Default New ram getting 25mpg?

Keep seeing the new ram commerical while watching the Rangers. I think I call bs on this one. Apparently the one that gets 25mpg has a v6 with an 8 speed trans not a hemi like the one they misleadingly display. Lol.

Highly doubtful. I'm sure the 8 speed trans helps, but if its a V6, I doubt it does. V6's on full size trucks get terrible gas mileage because it takes you giving it more has to get it moving. I had a V6 Silverado a couple of years ago and it got worse gas mileage than my 5.3. Of course, a lot is taken into consideration...such as, tire and wheel size, gear ratio, transmission, suspension and don't forget the driver! Lol. I call bs too!

Oh, the good ole 195 horse 4.3 or 350 with two pistons missing. Lol. I believe it. I have heard of people with the 6.2/6l80 combo getting just as good or better mileage than the ones with the 4.3/4l60.

It was a work truck and it was a 2012 4.3. I think they're over the 200 HP mark now. Lol

The single cab 2wd v6 one gets that for the EPA. My buddy had a 4wd crew cab with the 5.7 hemi and he got 12.6 highway!

That 25 MPG is the V6 mated to the 8 spd coasting down hill in neutral with the cylinder deactivation going.

haha, no doubt

from the ad here in my Motor Trend: Best-in-class hwy fuel economy. The pioneering combination of the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with an eight-speed transmission offers 6,500 pounds of towing power, 160 more miles per tank, and the best highway fuel economy of any truck in its class.

I begin to wonder if motor trend and other magazines get paid by the manufacturers to make their new and redesigned models number one in their reviews and show downs. The only V6 truck I'd ever drive would be the new ecoboost. I thought I heard a rumor about an ecoboost 5.0 for the super duty, wouldnt that be nice for mustangs? A little competition for the ZL1.

I just find it so funny that Dodge and Chevy sends shots at Ford (more fuel efficient than F150) when in reality they have to rely on cylinder deactivation (Chevy and Ram) and an 8-spd trans (Ram) to match the EPA estimates of a V6 w/o CD in a super crew.

The weekend my truck was wrecked in College Station, I got a 2012 3.7L Supercrew F150 as my rental. With all the crap out of my truck, including my toolbox, in a heavier truck, I managed to get 22 MPG at 70 MPH from CStat to Fort Worth. Fuck yeah.

You gotta look at the average anyway. I'm sure that thing is awful with city mileage. Weak V6 sucking down all the fuel just to make it move.

It's like a 310 HP V6?

Basically as potent as the new 3.7 in the Mustang, but in anything other than a 2WD Rcab, it will flat suck.

I have gotten 23mpg in my F150 on a long haul on the freeway... Maybe if i was going a little slower i could pull that, but would never happen driving normally.

Eco boost V6 does 23 and that is believable. That Pentastar engine sucks the balls. Ive drove one no bueno. Rumor is new shelby will be a twin turbo stroked version of the 5.0. The current engine will be two wide and tall to fit.

Also the EPA does tests by granny driving it at precisely 60mph with no head winds, smooth flat concrete, and not Texas stop and go traffic. The difference the wind resistance makes between 60 to 70mph is amazing! I'd say 25mph with a 90 lb old lady barely pushing the gas in perfect conditions at exactly 60mph
