So what's the trick to getting vettes to race, when I had my Cobra and LX it was a miracle to actually get one to do anything.

If I could have found a Z06 for under 40k with a warranty that's what I would be driving. Best bang for the buck car on the market hands down. Good runs.

I had to go check, lol. Looks like a low mileage '07 is right around $50k, I paid $33k for mine so I'd say he has a little to spare even with the blower, but I see your point.

25-40k is a shit ton?
I paid 30k for my 08 coupe in 2009 with 16k miles on it, and it made 650 rw.
Vettes dont hold value for shit because they are over priced and dealers give them away (the right ones do anyway)... so it's easy to pick up a nice one at a cheap price. Ask Steve, he looked for a while, he knows they are all over cheap as chips. I love Mustangs, but Id rather have a lightly used Vette for half the price (vs a Shelby, Id never be happy in a stock 5.0).

u are checking the wrong spots... I was looking at 40-43k for 07-08s last year... a NICE 5.0 or Boss is about the same price
The C7 coming out is gonna make the prices drop HARD core due to too many for sale and no buyers...

I don't know where a "nice 5.0" is $40+, mine's a '13 premium with all options other than Nav and Recaros and I bought it in April of '12. The Boss I can understand but I was also somewhat referring to owning a brand new car, not one that's 6/7 years old with 50k miles or more.

I hear ya, Im used to older cars, brand new cars are cool and all, but they are too slow, which requires mods, more money, time, and then a blown warranty. so besides the paint which can be buffed, there really isnt any reason to buy a new car unless you just are that type of person. Its only NEW for about 16 seconds.
nice as in loaded up with shit. I looked and the ones I wanted were all mid to high 30s. No I didnt get a last year deal like Steve or other people cause I wasnt looking seriously, just what I gathered in my few weeks of research.
The whole point is the prices are a lot closer than people think. Just cause you see a 20 y/o kid in a C6Z doesnt mean he paid 70-100 grand for it...

No, didn't make it out last night. I'll get there eventually! I don't think getting mine to trap 128-130 on my track tune should be too hard based on what I'm reading....

high 20s low 30s sounds about right if you hook well. At 577 rw I went 128 mph in about 3600 lbs... and I was sliding around a lot not making momentum. You are a little heavier but will have better traction and an auto...

The truth of what you said makes me want to kill myself, lol. I got rid of my 03 Cobra which was quite a bit quicker and WAY cheaper for this car just to start form scratch. This is my first new car and will probably be my last for a long time.

I like newer for the warranty. This is my first newer car but im used to the older stuff. Couldnt own a Vette. Insurance is too high for me and it just doesnt suit me.
