He must be an idiot. Your monthly payment factors in paying off both interest and principle each term. Any extra payment made AFTER your monthly payment pays strictly to principle, which is why you can pay extra and pay off a loan early.

Ah, better than the next gen Civics. My 06 has body panels that fall off if you sneeze near them and the engine block cracked and puked radiator fluid everywhere. Luckily there was a TSB that covers unlimited mileage and 8 years past the purchase date regardless of owner so I got a brand new OEM short block installed by Honda for free.
Oh yeah and back on topic:
$253 a month / 48 months. But that's on a 10 year old car. Still has 5.0 liters of displacement though
