I think it is a standard engine, just minus the cam-shaft, chain and supporting mechanics. The valves are timed and controlled using electronics and compressed air.

Sorry, misunderstood what you had said... was multi-tasking when i read it. Took it as the whole engine was air powered

Amazing technology for sure. Think of the options on tuning. A "cam" upgrade would be all electronic. And the compressed air would serve as a boost that doesn't generate heat or have a drain on the motor. Exciting when you think about it
