In car video options?
I am looking to setup in-car video for track days. I could just go buy a gopro black 3+ but I would like to hear alternatives. I have done a video renting a gopro and mounted inside on windshield. I also saw a car at ECR using a camera mount that attaches to the vertical bars of the headrests. What do you all use for your in car video whether ¼ mile track or even DD for insurance?

I just use a suction cup mount upside down inside... But I've got glass on my roof. :D

Thanks for the reply, are you using a gopro or another camera? I bet that glass roof angle is sweet!

I use my go pro hd2 for track days and love it. I use the suction cup mount on either the front or rear glass. Will Prolly buy a headrest mount also. Here are a couple videos

I used a go pro 2 as well. I don't know how to embed.

Contour is dead.
A fellow photographer recommended I check out Replay. http://replayxd.com/product/replay-x...camera-system/ Also a nice unit, but I really like the superwide view of the GoPro. I think it tends to suck you into the action. I bought a GoPro3 black in August and I like it a lot. Menus are a little balky, and they suck you in with accessories, but I'm fully satisfied otherwise. What you see on YouTube is actually a lot less resolution than what is available. http://youtu.be/u5LqZuIrQpI |
So I am looking at this thinking I can mount my Nikon on the passenger headrest for solo events. might even be able to rig up a gopro on this. What I hope for with this is to capture tach and speed during runs at ECR.

I wouldn't be comfortable with the short bar mount, but the long bar looks appropriate

I run the Contour...didn't know they were dead until now. Supposedly they are coming back but I really did like their setup. GoPro is real hard to beat with all of the support with accessories and stuff. I would lobe to have a GP Hero 3 Black Edition just to get the wireless remote and stuff.

That's some solid info. Will have to look into that.
