Inquiry - DFW50's Summer Country Cruise
Ok, I need some input from as many of you as possible please. Summer is quickly approaching and with it the crazy intense Texas heat that comes along with it.
We'd like to get as many members as possible involved with this event. It's a country backroads cruise that goes between McKinney and Sherman. Tons of twisty turns, great scenery and a few photo op locations along the way as well. Basically we would start out in Mckinney at a designated time. Have a drivers meeting then head out. There is a couple of stops along the way for breaks, pictures and gas. The route ends in Sherman right at 75 where we can go have lunch. After lunch, you can either head out from there down 75 or do the whole route again in the opposite direction! What we need to know is - what is the best date for everyone to be there for the best possible turnout? We need to do this soon before it gets too hot. We can do a Saturday or Sunday, I know a few of you work on Saturdays so if it needs to be a Sunday that is fine too (It will be okay for you church goers to miss one Sunday, HE will forgive you :) lol ) The 18th is NOT an option due to the dyno day but any other date works. Post up! :banana-mario: |
Either day..

Is there E85 along this route?

I like Saturday over Sunday, but either day is fine.

I just did a quick Google search and there shows to be an E85 station at the Kroger right off of 75. :boobs: |
Re: Inquiry - DFW50's Summer Country Cruise
June 8th is the next weekend day I have off so unless it's that day I'm out unless we do it early

You know I'm game. Just a FYI, the old courthouse in McKinney is being demolished so they have the entire lot fenced off. If you make plans to meet out there keep in mind parking will have to be done on the side street. Leaving between 9-10 I have come to realize is really an optimal time. At least doing this route the past few years that has been the case. Hardly any traffic on the road.
Also there is a bit of construction right before the road you turn on to go on the 2nd portion of the route. Believe its farm road 11. If anyone is lowered they are going to want to take the bump at a very nice angle. |

Here's a promotional video I put together a few years ago when we did this route for DFW charity racing. It will at least give you a look at what to expect on this route.
