30k miles, Blown motor.
2011 GT, noticed a clacking noise as I drove in this morning. Went to dealer, they said there was NO OIL in the car, have to replace motor.
I got a full synthetic oil change 1 yr ago, have been to the dealer 3 times since then for an alignment and a couple warranty issues, they do the 30pt inspection each time and mark off that the oil is OK. thats why I havent checked it myself, last time was only 2 months ago, took to dealer and they checked on the inspection that the oil was OK, apparently they just rubberstamped the inspection and never actually looked, other wise how does 8qts of oil dissapear in 2 months? there are no leaks. now have to battle with Ford or the dealer to see who can pay 10,000 for a new motor.... joy. any advice? |
And that there kids is why I change my own oil. Good luck with this fuck up its going to be messy.
Damn. Being you have the multi-point inspection sheet showing it is perfectly fine, I would hope they will believe you when you tell them you honestly have not checked it yourself.
Good luck man |
Damn, tell them you need the boss engine.

GT500 engine
how many miles did you put on it since the last change?
it was due for an oil change for sure, I just hadn't done it yet because last oil change was 10k miles ago and I put in full synthetic and SUPPOSEDLY that was good for 10k miles.
but the reason I didnt do it the last couple months was because I had been bringing it to the ford dealer (don davis arlingont) and they had been SUPPOSEDLY checking the oil in the 30pt inspection. I have responsibility for sure to check my oil and change it, but when I am trusting what the dealer tells me that my oil is OK, why would I doubt it?? also, there was NEVER any warning light or indication of low oil or pressure... the dealer said there were 2 quarts left in it. |
My advice would be to check your oil once in awhile. While you may not change it yourself there is no reason not to be checking it. You are a car guy this should be a no brainer.

The gt500 uses the same powdered metal rods the GT does. The internals in the boss are better suited for more power. Why that is i have no idea. Seems pretty stupid to me for the flagship Stang to use a weak motor like that. A lot of 13 gt500s have been struggling to keep their motors together over 650rw. |
these motors do burn oil. i always check my level periodically
Yes I always check mine too but holy crap, 10k miles and you didn't personally check it? I'm surprised no one else has asked this but does your car have any mods?
jesus! Good luck man.. Be happy you have ford service receipts and dont be surprised when you hear some out of the park reasons for the vanishing oil.
sad sad day. do your cars not have idiot lights? I NEVER checked my damn VW's, one day as I was driving to the dealer it went berzerk and said shut engine down low oil... I turned it off and coasted into the VW service bay about half a mile away... lol turns out it was only a qt low...
Oh, Hi.
...let me know how that turns out....
And that is why 10k miles on an oil change is the most redeculious thing i have heard. I would never even consider putting that many miles on an oil change. 3k miles it gets changes regardless of the type.
