19's and 20's?
Considering the rear of my car is about .25 inches higher than the front, I'm thinking of doing 20's in the rear, while doing 19's up front. I know the new Shelby's are set up that way and they look great. Just wanted to get other people input/experiences with doing this...

It looks good on the track pack shelby's! With the right wheel/tire combo it can be pulled off.

I think it really depends on what you are going to do with the car suspension/race wise. If you are going to track it (not drag strip) then there isn't a need to offset it like that because you will be doing coil-overs which are adjustable. If you do springs, you may have to find ones that do equal drops, from everyone I see on here that does springs it evens out as well to where the different sizes wouldn't be needed.

Well I've already lowered the car...I went with the Roush springs.
|
So if you do 19's and 20's are you going to run a thinner tire in the rear to offset it? I.E. 40's up front and 35's in the rear?
|
Yes, that was the plan. I just don't know how well it would look.
|
Yeah, almost need someone else running it, since the wheel height is not staggered for our cars normally, and the suspension drop will make the wheels look bigger, so it might make the wheel size look noticeable from a side profile, hard to say though.
|
I have tossed around this idea, as well. But I think I decided to just stick with a all 19 or all 20 setup and just do a slightly taller tire out back.
|
IMO....Sidewall height should be the same at all 4 corners. If not the same, the front should never have more sidewall than the rear. That will kill any wheel/tire combo on a newer model car.

It's a good look, if you can find a wheel setup that has the same design in 19s and 20s. It's actually harder than it sounds to find that.
If you do it, you should NEVER EVER EVER put a shorter sidewall on a rear tire than a front tire. 2011 GT500 PP http://imageshack.us/a/img856/3184/dsc7789.jpg Don't get too crazy with the wheel diameter mismatch. Here's 18s and 20s. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...rd/005webb.jpg |
19's and 20's?
And the only way to do a same height or taller sidewall is to basically go with a super rake drop to get a TALL tire out back on a 20" rim.
