4 Banger Trolls
 

So, I decided to go out this evening for a bite to eat. On the way out of my complex, a dude in a civic si decided to rev his engine at me, and made direct eye contact. Not 10 minutes later, I was at a Braum's (the one off of western center & I-35). They have this little driveway in that area to give access to the local stores, so its a real tight 2-way. This asian dude in a wrx sti waited until he got right up beside me to rev so hard that he bumped the rev limiter 3 times. :wtf:

What on earth makes these idiots think they are faster? The WRX looked completely stock, and the civic was a laughing matter. I literally had this asian guy give me the troll face with his window down while revving. :idiot:

Its not that I dont like 2.3-2.5 liter engines... I would just rather have a couple of them under my hood. :manos:
Does anyone else get constantly revved at by slow 4 bangers?

How do you know they were slow?

I haven't had anybody, rev at me or anything... Maybe its the racestars? Im sure it will be even worse with the Procharger big red and D1SC Idling.

Actually thinking about it there was a 3V Mustang the other day that just kept revving and revving like an 18yr old that just got catless exhaust on.

There's a guy on this side of town with a white Evo that loves to think it's fast. Nice car and I like Evo's, but seriously, how many runs does it take to figure out you're not going to win?

I seriously do not pay any attention to the low budget imports at all like Civics and such. They rev at me or downshift next to me, I don't pay them any mind. They are not worth getting a ticket for at all.

I've had them claim they would dust me because they (stock Evos, STI's, SRT-4's, etc.). They turn up the boost on their 4CYL and think they can own V8's. Up until the point they find out I'm running boost too. Always as them to put their money where their mouth is at Little River on a Friday night, but only one Mini Cooper S took me up. Needless to say, it wasn't pretty.

Because, when he went by, not only was it 100% stock cosmetically, his revving fart can was stock too. Who the hell would spend lots of money trying to be fast without first putting a real exhaust on it?

He runs 13.6 tops @ stock.

Im an Evo lover too. But these guys, even with AWD, cannot reach 0-60 before us without some good mods.

Good story, and couldn't agree more. I was originally going to buy an Evo. But honestly, I would rather start with respectable 1/4 time then have to mod to get one. Now mods just make it all that much better for what I already have.

We have a guy at work who drives an S2000. Ironically, he also made a comment a couple weeks back that everyone he sees in a mustang just rolls by revving their engine with a troll face at him. Honestly, this weekend has proven to me its the other way around.

Well, I had my fogs on, dark tint, and the front license plate in the windshield.

You really live in your own world. Im not saying a properly setup rwd car cant beat a awd off the line but a stockish evo 8-9 is more then capable of putting the hurt on a 5.0 with boltons.

However, I know exactly what AWD Evo's and WRX's can pull for 0-60 and 1/4 without mods. They arnt slow, but they do not beat 5.0s. A stock Evo, even brand new is around 4.8 - 5.0s off the line. And they run mid 13's.

I haven't had a ricer rev at me in years. Last time that happened was maybe a few months after I bought the Corvette and it was always obvious ricers. IE Civics, NA Eclipses, NA 240s etc with hubcaps, two-foot wings, glow-in-dark windshield wiper nozels and well, you get the picture. However the last time some 4-bangers challenged me was a Evo something, and we were pretty even. A hopped up SRT4 drug me from a light in the Corvette and a bone-stock looking GSX Eclipse killed me in a roll race in the Corvette.

I'll say this, though, I wouldn't put too much sleep on factory and magazine quoted 0-60, 1/4 mile etc stats. If someone is willing to race you, more than likely they aren't stock. So those figures are completely worthless in the real world.

Personally, I don't rev at anyone unless I plan to do something about it. Having two ricers rev me in the same day was weird. But these kinda tools won't actually race. They just bark

I occasionally have people rev at me. Every time it has happened so far I look over and it is a kid in some busted up POS. I usually just laugh and ignore them.

I rev at other mustangs and good looking cars just to get the drivers attention and flash the thumbs up or the deuces, and I've had others do that to me.. it's cool. Unless you are in a v6 mustang. . Then you are a lower class then me and I won't even look over... know your role!!! Just kidding, you gotta understand the 4 bangers have a chip on their shoulders, and they have been told by movies a cai and exhaust makes a civic run 10's

LOL! so true. Right around the time the first Fast and Furious came out I would get the ol' rev or ricer flyby a few times a day. This was when I drove the bigblock chevelle who wasn't much for the corners but great from a light. I will say I respect all fast cars no matter the brand, but we've all been in our first car feeling like we were on top of the world and could beat anyone haha.

I posted a vid of a stock looking teg making 720 and dragging 800whp vettes like bitches. Stock tranny too lol. B series motors are stout.

I don't rev at anyone. I have had a cammed G8 rev at me once, as well as a few other Mustangs (foxes, new edges, and some V6s LOL) and a couple of Camaros. If they don't wave and act serious about doing it to get my attention, I just turn my head slowly to look at them, shake it side-to-side, and drive off.

I'd laugh my butt off if one of those "stock looking 4 banger trolls" blew your doors off.

No doubt there are super fast 4 cylinders out there under gas or turbo. What I mean is, this guy had stock exhaust too. I cant see anyone building a high HP 4 cylinder while leaving the exhaust untouched.

Im down for a challenge if they rev at me... but to give me the troll face and speed off is kinda lame. Why point your gun and put your finger on the trigger if your not going to shoot?

This thread isnt about me bashing 4 cylinder drivers who didnt do anything at all, its me bashing those that are revving at me like juvenile delinquents. When I start bashing people for no reason at all, you can let me know then.
I am also not above a GTR or other high performance 4 or 6 cylinder. So I am not high and mighty either. My 5.0 is however "precious" to me, just like anyone else who makes the investment.

Why dont you post to the topic at hand with civility or go take your trolling elsewhere.

Most of the cars that have rev'd me were other muscle cars just acknowledging that fact and I give them a friendly what's up rev right back. If a civic or any 4 cylinder rev'd me I'd smile and rev their ass's back with my big v8, long tubes and borla exhaust, its a shouting match I can't lose. Don't start nothing won't be nothing is my motto.

Reminds of the very first time I took my pops for a ride in my 5.0, I said I wasn't going to drive fast and the very first red light I came to I got pole position and here comes this 6 cylinder challenger driving a fool and reving his shit. When the light turned he gunned it and I just could not let that shit go. Pops looked over at me and said "car has some get up and go" about 15 seconds later came the ricer fly by

Yep. This is what I was talking about.

My question is, WHY couldn't you let it go? Clearly a 6cyl Challenger is no real challenge, so why bother?

I get reved at a lot, but I always just accept it as a compliment. I do rev AT people sometimes that are doing stupid things. It's my "horn".

I know you were, but it's always fun to see a v8 guy get defensive. :)

I raced an Acura TSX the other day because he looked at me and we both knew we were going...I was in the wife's truck though and the guy was a friend. Just having some fun.

As a former '93 LX hatchback 2.3l owner, I've been on the "other end" of the rev game way too often. F-bodies would rev at me at a stoplight, and I just turn and shrug. "What do you want me to do?"

Now I've got the '13 5.0l, but don't mess around much on city streets. I do roll my eyes at the POS imports or straight up minivans who do 15+ over the speed limit, but are completely incognito next to my purty and clean deep impact blue stang!
