400 Bone Stock Bitches, well with a tune from CTP hell ya
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I know it's not a huge thing but I'm impressed I pulled all my aftermarket parts off to get my car ready to sell in a few months. Well I decided to have CTP retune the car just so it would still be fun to drive, stock tune sucks we all know this. Anyways Jeff retuned the car and corrected she made 401 hp 391 tq. Which is funny and pissed me off cuz with a boss intake, roush CAI, BBK x pipe, lethal over the axle pipes and roush ABs I only made 12 more HP. WtF right but I'm proud of my baby for still making 401 with just a K&N drop in, I'm running mobile 1 full syn, and royal purple tranny fluid. Only mods are upgraded clutch line and catch cans. Anyways here's my dynos all done by CTP

What tune did you have before?
(Derek from Facebook here) |
I bet that Boss intake was hurting you.
|
Before CTP ever tuned it it was just a FRPP race tune to run the boss IM
|
Yeah, I'm betting it was hurting bad, and wasn't setup for the other things. Why didn't you run the Boss IM before tune dyno run past 7k RPM?
|
Cuz fords tune kept the stock redline for "Safery"

Not too surprising really. The stock airbox and exhaust are incredibly efficient on these cars. Mine made 410 with the canned VMP tune through the stock airbox and with the PypeBombs installed. Same setup I'm running again.
|
all you really gotta do to make over 420 on a mt82 car is delete the cats and get a tune... 401 with a tune isnt all that, sorry man its normal. tune with off road h and flowmasters made 426 on my old car. gained like 3hp with the jlt.
|
Nice numbers!
Think I've seen your car around Ctc |
I've honestly thought about switching back to the stock air box while still being on the stock tune and all. Also curious what REAL gains the CAI actually makes.

But it makes neato swooshing noises! :) |
I went right back to my old Vette killing ways as soon as the blower was off. Had a yellow C6 want to play literally less than 5 minutes after starting her up for the first time sans blower. Left him in the dust. Car is still fun to drive!

426 needs a little more than that, if you aren't on a happy dyno in 45-50° weather |

And if that doesn't work, I can try to accommodate you in the '72. It's just a slow old carb'd car.

I ran a c6 and put the hurt on him. You make in the 500's zeek. That is not beast mode. |

I'm not talking about the 1/4. TBH id be terrible at the drag strip. I've only been a couple times and never with the vette. It don't help at the have all season tires on. But for comparison with my same setup Vic went like 10.30 at 132 or something close to that.
|
LOL! Really? I guess I need to give several people their money back then. Damn near paid for all the mods done to mine from Believers in The Plastic Fantastic.

People that havent raced a well setup vette, just dont know. Zeek's c6 will prison rape that dart from a roll, and that darkside pony when on the jug. :headbang: |
What's Darkpony's build anyways?

5.0's with cams and boltons are appraoching 500 wheel if not more. The Trinity makes more hp then the SC 6.2 and a smaller engine. Yea superior my ass. |

You can make your point saying that the 5.0 is the better engine saying it's more efficient making more power vs displacement and you might be right with your opinion but it's doesn't change the fact that a 600rw Stang is going to get beat by 500rw Vette. Bench or calculator racing doesn't always work. With comparable cars you can ballpark it I guess, but it's far from accurate. As far as the street scene goes and racing, a 5.0 has to overcome a lot to make up for the weight and gearing difference of the Vette putting it at a serious disadvantage. These Coyotes can be very fast, but in order to do so an owner has to be willing to throw quite of money at it in order to be competitive with everything in the parking lot at a meet. Otherwise it's best to stick to racing stuff like Camaros, Challengers and a few imports. |
