Is february/march a bad time or are mustangs always like this?
Well after hearing tons of commercials for the local ford/hyundai/vw/mitsubishi dealer(where I bought my stang) I decided to see what deals they had just because. Turns out they have 2013 f150 for up to $10k off and genesis sedan for up to $9k off. Well decided to see what they would offer me since they always brag about best trade in in town(which was true with my last truck)
Well they only offered me $22k, but it was a BS appraisal. Car never left the parking spot, salesman just went in the back and played on nada with one of the managers I guess. He refused to show me any numbers, saying it was $22k firm for trade and only $5k rebates for the f150. Guess he doesn't want a second commission check from us. It really shocked me cause on my ram they offered nada plus $2k, or nada trade and x plan pricing for the stang. So on the way home from there, I dropped by the local GMC dealer to see what they would offer. They said $20k bought outright or they could possibly match the $22k on trade. Manager said wheels were dirty, exhaust was too loud(it's going back to stock if traded), and engine bay looked like crap(none of the engine/coil covers are on.) Is this just a bad time of the year for trading in stangs or is it just the way stangs are? $20-22k seems ridiculous for a 2014 5.0 with 8,300 miles on it. Especially since NADA ranges from $23kish(rough trade)-$26kish(clean trade) for the 2013 model. |
I got $23k for my base 2013 Gt with 23k miles. I traded for a new f150 that was back in October.
|
I got offered 23k for my 13 premium recaro/brembo car. 12k miles. Sucks.
|
Resale on stangs suck.
|
Why do you want to trade it for a Genesis or a truck? Lmfao. Are you getting married or building a house?
|
It's not a collector car. It's not a rare car. It's not a special car. It's a Mustang and the economy sucks as it is. There's no demand.

And I was told my rams had bad resale. This is worse lol. Oh well, I like the car so it's all good
Strokd- neither of those But I'm gonna go to the Hyundai side of the dealer in the morning and see how much they offer(they were the ones that gave me nada+2k on my ram). This oughta be interesting lol |
Why does your car look like crap with only 8300 miles?

I said the manager said the engine bay looks like crap. I guess he doesn't like the fact that all the engine cover and coil covers aren't in there
Edit: I'm about to throw all the engine bay pieces back on, and clean it up before I take it to the Hyundai dealer tomorrow |
I still dont know why you are trading it for a Hyndai. You are doing it wrong.
|
What's wrong with a Hyundai? And I'm doing what wrong?

They probably don't give a crap about the 2014s because the 2015s and new body is about to come out and kill 2014s values.

Garner,
It's not just Mustangs, it's ANY car to trade in. I used to own a used car dealership and worked at several new car lots. Trade ins are a huge profit center for dealerships. Behind your back they'll use terms such as P.O.S. if it's in bad condition and "took your head off" if they get your car at a low price. Some people will argue the tax savings, but this doesn't compare to selling the car outright to a private buyer. You'll still come out way ahead selling privately. People who don't have patience to do it always take a bath on trade ins. Do yourself a favor and put it back to original as much as possible and then post it on Craigs to sell to a private buyer. It'll take longer but will be worth it. Any modded looking car people think you drove the piss out of it and mentally it loses value. |
One more thing, if you have a private buyer and already identified the new car you want, you can go to the dealership and process the transaction there. You still get the tax savings and the private buyer pays the higher retail used price for your car which is applied to the new car you buy. You get the best of both that way.

Again, hes at a Hyndai dealer, they very likely dont have a gtr and if they did, unlikely hes buying one at 19. Yes my boss bought his 17 year old son one, but my boss isnt on here complaining about 2 to 3 grand difference on a trade in either. You love to make arguements for the sake of it, so yes I left that one open for ya. Good job, I owe you a cookie. |
Must be tough being a teenager these days

I had an 89 escort when I started driving, couldn't imagine what I would done with something like a boss at 17. LOL |

I've flicked through this thread, OP, what are you looking for exactly? |
If you are worried about resale/trade-in you should have never bought a car. Trucks hold their value because even if its a toy for you a couple years down the road its still valuable to someone to use for work. I drove my last Raptor for a year and put 14k miles on it paid 48,500 OTD and got 47,500 back on trade.

That also helps because it a specialty vehicle too |

Does tat suspension come with warranty? See that's why the raptor is a big deal.

The OE Raptor suspension is good for cruising some washboard roads, with a few small jumps, i.e. maybe a few inches off the ground. If you really want to use the truck as it was designed, ditch the factory suspension.
I really want to see what that Raptor that Tanner Faust drove for Top Gear looked like after he was done thrashing on it... |

Funny, when I traded my 2013 V6 Premium Performance Package in on my current car, I was given a trade in value of $23K. That car had 13K miles on it too. My thing is I never go in to a dealer talking about a trade in. I fight them for a great price on the car I want, agree on that, then mention at the end that I have a trade in.
Buying a car IMO is easy. If you focus on dealer inventory, you can see how long a car has been sitting on the lot. Any new car, turn around should be less than a month. Any more time than that, dealers get desperate to sell that individual vehicle. In my case, I hated red cars, but a '13 Premium Brembo GT with Recaros and no other options (most people want all the goodies, not just the go fast ones) was on the lot for almost 2 months. I sat down with a salesmen, gave him the VIN, and told him I had a loan already approved and I know this car is a hard sell...give me your best price. Go into a dealer armed and you will get it more of your way. |
