2014 gt Track Key
I guess Ford came out with a track key for some of the 2014 GT manual cars and it doesn't void the factory warranty. That kinda sucks for me since I have a 2013GT. I wonder what is different with the cars that can't get it. I don't know if this link will work but you can Google it if not.

Freaking sweet. I don't know what would be different for 2014 5.0s though.
|
Ain't that some bullshit.
They are probably trying to rid themselves of the left over stock of Track Keys from the Boss cars. |
Ugh why can't they make one for auto cars
|
I'm so buying this!! Lol
|
Will someone school me on what a track key is? I can't get the link to pull up for whatever reason on my phone.

Ah that is pretty cool. Thanks
|
No auto for the lose! Can I start that ? FTL instead of FTW?
|
^^thats already been around for a while.... being late to the part FTL....
and GHEY!!! maybe they will offer a software upgrade for 13-early 14 models to use this... |
lame... Why does it just have to be the 14s too..
|
I need to check my build date, I just might qualify! It will depend on how much it costs though, I didn't see a price.
|
I read on another forum it will work on late model 2013 and all 2014 GTs with manual transmissions. Scroll down to #38

Seems pretty cool. I'd like to know how "lopey" the idle actually is though. If you can tell a difference that might be the only reason I buy one lol

If it works on 2013s as well, I am totally doing this.

His gauges are fancier than mine And that's about what I would expect the idle to be. Not too much different |
Just tried to call ford racing and confirm what build dates this is good for. Unfortunately they are closed until Monday
The link on allfordmustangs.com says that late model 2013 and all 14s is what it works on. I really hope that 7/2013 is supposed to be 7/2012...because I would just barely make that date. I wonder if it works on base models without the fancy clusters. |

I'm wondering this as well. I know it says ALL 2014 with MT-82 but it wouldn't surprise me any if they leave the base models out of this. Damn fancy people with there damn fancy make out parties |

I'm sorry, Steve, I couldn't hear you over your constant bitching about the mustang |
your just Jelly it wont work on your old 12
|
Anyone know if that launch control feature is worth a damn? That's the only thing I wish I could use off of it.

Intrigued. Early 2014 ( feb 2013 ) here (track package and Recaros). One step closer for my Baby Boss?
|
Am I the only one that is thinking if this key unlocks a different tune.... Could lets say a e85 tune be one one key and a 93 tune be on another? Or maybe a 93 on one and race gas in the other? Gonna e -mail Aed about this idea. Shaun mentioned that the aftermarket just can't activate it but never said they can't play with it.
|
How or where do we find the build date on a 2013 GT?
|
Saw the post on Allford stating that it will work on any 2013-2014 MT-82 car.
Called Ford Racing parts and spoke with Tom.....this will only work on 2014MY GTs built after July 1, 2013. He read an email he received from one of the engineers and that's what they said. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :( |
Ghey

The additional engine braking is nice, but otherwise, meh.
There is no extra hp from the TrackKey, and the aftermarket tunes don't work when the computer is in it's TrackKey mode. At least that's the case on the Boss 302s. |
well it the ford tune only on that key. just got word from the tuner and said NOPE. would have to have ford software and on top of that ford would get all butt hurt and hes with in good standings with them right now.

oh hi....let me put in my .02
the tracKey is a PCM program. Basically its just a tune for the module....THATS IT. I programmed my own trackey. basically it's Ford's MyKey technology. There is nothing special about the key itself. Basically when you buy that key, all you get is a voucher ID (no "magic" key). To download and program the software you just need to go to Ford's website, enter the voucher ID, and program the PCM with Ford's scan tool. During the program process it tells you to insert the key you want as the "trackey"...stick that one in the ignition and it remembers that key's ID as the one associated with the performance tune on the PCM. |
also, I would expect the PCM program to work on any 5.0L mustang....(I haven't confirmed) but its the same PCM....same engine....same everything, so I don't foresee why it would not work.
I think the trackey was more used because they built a race engine and then had to regulate it down for emissions and drivability. So the Trackey is in turn, Ford's attempt of saying....hey, we made a race car....but the government has us by the balls....so take out those restrictor plates on your side exhaust (because there are already gaskets in there for you once you take out the restrictor plate), and then program your trackey. apparently its also been proven that the trackey doesn't give you anymore horsepower. I haven't seen any of the dyno test results, but that's what I heard. But I can tell you it definitely gives you better throttle response and a lot more engine braking. |
