I'm an Amsoil dealer
Forgot to tell you guys but I am also an Amsoil dealer. I own an auto shop in Keller area(north Fort Worth). I can't remember exactly what I pay for oil change on the 5.0 but when I do it I usually buy a case(12qrts) and filter. I think it's like 7 dollars a quart. It's the signature series 15k miles oil with 25k mile filter.
Let me know if interested |
Thanks that's good to know.
I'm interested...i'll hit you up when its time for my next oil change and pick up a case and filter. time to switch from stock motorcraft!
Supertech 5w20 for life!!!! Haha j/k. I'll spread the word.
Can you get any type of amsoil oil? I'm looking to switch to either signature series 5w20 or 5w30.
Holy cow. That's a good price. May consider hitting you up and switching from mobile 1 to amsoil. Could you ship or would I need to come to you to pick it Up?
Dirtyd he should be able to. Luckly everyone is in dallas area here that's where they ship from I gave up trying to sell amsoil products.

I don't think it matters what oil as long you change it every 3-5k miles. With saying that I'm sticking with amsoil.
3-5k seems extremely short as well.
If you want to send me a sample of your penn ultra when you do an oil change I can send it to black stone labs. I will also send a sample of Amsoil from my car and we can see how much difference

I'm not too sure how much mileage I have On this oil but the oil life meter says 45%. I was thinking of changing it at around 30%. I'm running 5w20 signature series with Amsoil filter.
I'm gonna guess I have around 4k miles on this oil |

The reality is that motor oils do not need to be changed because they thin with use. It is the eventual thickening that limits the time you may keep oil in your engine. The limit is both time itself (with no motor use) and/or mileage use. The storage of motor oil in your garage, particularly mineral based oils, slowly ages the oil limiting its use later. Do not store huge volumes of oil in your garage that is exposed to extremes of temperature.
No need for a thicker oil. Thicker oil does not protect better.
Ams oil is the best oil on the market 10k oil changes easily. 15 k if you run it in your diesel. To bad it it out of my budget
Oh I just found out its 25k mile oil and filter. It's grade 4 oil. Penn ultra is grade 3. I've got oil sample kits ready to send to the labs.
I'm not trying to sell you guys Amsoil, I'm just offering it because we friends. I'm not making money off it. $7.50 a quart. |

Rod and main bearings are what typically get destroyed when the wrong weight oil is used. I can show you dozens of bearings that failed due to the engine having too thin of an oil in it.. I was never a big amsoil nutswinger but I recently tried it in my truck. Before with mobil 1 and castrol synthetic oils 10w-30 it would make around 60 lbs pressure cold and 40-45 hot. I put amsoil 10w-30 signature series oil (which we stock at Truestreet) along with the same brand (wix) filter and it now makes around 65-70 lbs pressure cold and does not drop a single lb when it gets hot. Thus far it has been an incredible oil!! Also note I plan to change it around 4k miles. I am a huge stickler on changing oil, $50-60 for an oil change every 3-4k miles is cheap insurance to ensure and have piece of mind that you are giving your engine it best chance at lasting a long time. Just think about all the money you throw away for auto insurance that most will never need.... Take it for what its worth, but I have tried about 6 different brands of oil in this engine over the past 8 months (mostly due to just getting them on sale at oreillys) but there is a HUGE difference in all the brands out there. This all comes from personal experience having used these brands in similar 100+ degree texas summer heat. |
Ive already explained why.
