5.2L coyote making 500 plus hp NA from the factory
Yes please. Might have to trade my car in if the "new" SVT cobras come with this.

Interesting

I would put money its a 5.0 based motor with "ecoboost" twin turbos like we saw with the SEMA cobra jet. I would guess around 600hp as well. But then again those are just my guesses

I dont think there is anyway they ditch forced induction for the cobra

Mach 1 will return in 2017 and Shelby GT350, which will be a raw type car like the 60s version (Boss type replacement) will arrive in 2016.
A stroker 327 or 331 would be sweet. |
I wonder how much the prices will go up by then. This is my last new car, going back to the old shit, I miss not having car payments.

Just seems to me they would be going backwards from a 662hp top of the line model to a 500hp car. Doesn't make any marketing sense.
|
I said quite awhile ago that the new shelby will most likely be 5.0 with Twin Eco boost technology. The current engine in the shelby dosnt fit the dimensions for the new car. The motor is to wide and tall.
|
I really hope they don't throw turbos in it. Always been a fan of root style blowers & twin screws.

Just comes down to where you draw the line between performance & efficiency . On the GT model sure I can see a 50/50 split due to high production #'s. But on a Cobra? |
Its because of the number of trucks they sell.
|
If you look at it from a marketing stand point what gets people into the dealership? the flashy fast cool cars. Fords is the Cobra. now if a sales person can tell the dad with 3 kids that can't get the cobra that he can have the same technology that is in the cobra (ecoboost) in this F150, explorer, edge, fusion, taurus, escape, focus, and fiesta then all the sudden the family car becomes a lot more attractive to the normal buyer. Ford knows the Cobra will sell regardless if they get away from true muscle, as evidence by the IRS and wanting to sell more in Europe, so if they can get better gas mileage, still make a ton of power, and it might help them sell a few other cars as well, I dont see why not to do it.

If Ford wants europe and asia they will need an ecoboost for the Mustang.
