Intake heat shield
Not sure this will really work but it is interesting. Thought I would share.

Wouldn't work on my intake.

I'm sure it will help a little bit. As said in the thread on SVTP, any cooler IATs will be a benefit. Throw in E85 and your motor will be an ice box (not really).
The price is supposedly under $100, so I'm at least going to try it when it comes out next month, as that is the current release time frame. Jeff, can you not just unhook your nozzles and trim holes in the shield to slip over? |
I am thinking of trying it, but wanted to pass this on to everyone on this board.
Very interesting! Too bad I don't have a boss manifold.
nevermind just noticed there is supposed to be one for standard manifolds as well.
Very interesting. I maybe trying this out on my car.
Sounds like something to try.
I'll try it
Snake oil!
I can see it helping a little bit.
I would like to see some more independent testing done as well.

Intake heat shield
I'm sure SVTP and some other people like Lethal, Latemodel, or AM will do something.
After seeing this, I ordered heatshield hp mat from auto anything, $46 shipped and enough to wrap the bottom of my stock intake manifold and my airraid box. It looks to be the same material heatshield is using just uncut. I don't want to spend money on a dyno but I will be using an infrared thermometer to measure the intake temp before and after the wrap and will post up the info regardless of results. Should be shipping out Monday so hopefully next week I can get it done.
I'll definitely be getting this, Makes too much sense not to invest in it.
