My 83 280zx turbo
Sup guys,
I'm Chris, good friend of Nick's (Midnight11). We've known each other since 7th grade lol. Anywho, not a mustang owner, have high respects for them, especially the new 5.0s :D Figured I'd join and help spread the word of the forum and bullshit with a bunch of car guys! This is my 83 280zx turbo i've had for almost 5 years, and have the same problem you guys do which is investing in a rolling money pit lol. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...62345457_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...16573968_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...13959790_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...58417467_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...05735863_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...04846129_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...78081496_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...43294300_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...67755903_n.jpg I got it bone stock and unmolested but neglected from a car collector, so far its got quite a few goodies. My 83 280zx turbo
Welcome, Chris! What kind of power does that put down?
|
Welcome! Neat toy you have there.
|
Welcome chris! is the brake kit on?
|
Thanks guys!
DirtyD, i've never dynoed it, waiting on the bigger injectors, water/meth, and t3/t4 so that i can get it on the dyno to re-tune. If i had to guestimate by the butt dyno, maybe 260-270whp. Midnight11, No :(. They will clear 15" wheels, just not my 15's because i have a 1" drop center. So i'd either have to go with 1" adapters which are $99/pair for good ones, or i can just bite the bullet and get bigger wheels. So i'm gonna get some xxr 16x8s that sit almost flush with the fenders and some tires with my tax return and sell my old wheels/tires. Minor setback, but welcome to having a project car lol |
Turbo, were you ever on DI.net?

Awesome car interested to know the numbers

Very nice car. Looks like it is well kept. I had an MK3 Supra turbo that I miss :(. Always been a fan of the 80s and 90s Jap cars. Not to be too critical but some wider wheels to meet the fender would definitely make the car look far more purposeful and aggressive whenever you want to go for another wheel set.
Just yesterday while at the carwash I saw an S13 drive by and heard a blowoff valve. If I get into another Jap money pit it will be an S13 with the SR20 swap. -Alex |
That's cool.
I bought a 1983 turbo 280 ZX just like that brand new in '83. They were pretty cool cars and ran ok for their time. I never did anything to mine and sold it with about 80,000 miles on it. Good luck with the build.
