Daily wise I choose the stang. Used c6 or a new car? Plus vettes ar price when shit dies. I think mike had to replace a plug wire. $30+tax one wire. Fudge cicle.

As much as I hate on Chevy's, I do like the C6's. I needed a backseat though and I've always been a Mustang guy.

Junkie 06-01-2013 02:07 PM

Oh there are pros and cons of both for sure. Very similar price its just a preference thing. If I want a back seat, I'd rather have a sedan

This post was not meant for a Mustang vs Corvetter debate. I just wanted to know how fast they were since I just raced one.

I paid 30k for my 08 coupe in 2009 with 16k miles on it, and it made 650 rw.

Vettes dont hold value for shit because they are over priced and dealers give them away (the right ones do anyway)... so it's easy to pick up a nice one at a cheap price. Ask Steve, he looked for a while, he knows they are all over cheap as chips. I love Mustangs, but Id rather have a lightly used Vette for half the price (vs a Shelby, Id never be happy in a stock 5.0).

I guess i should have had you find me a 08+ vette auto with under 30k miles when I was looking last year for $30k or under. I couldn't find one anywhere modded or stock. I didn't really want a manual but I only found a couple of those in that price range. I looked for few months on all the forums ebay autotrader etc..

Here's how I did in the 1/8th against a c6z06 not my best pass but I was on a set of old 18's with drag radials. I was spinning some in first and both of the shifts spun pretty bad but it was a close race. With the instant hit of your PD blower you should get in the 10s pretty easily.

New Shelby's SHOULD pick on them given the almost 140 hp advantage (guessing that from parasitic loss the new GT500's are putting 640 to the ground of the 668 advertised hp).

Modded 5.0 vs Z06 (even c5 with nothing major), the Z06 will be either dead even or walk it on the top end :(

C5 Zo6 and a stock 5.0 track pack gd race 1/4.

Definitely 1/4 they would be close....once a Z0 hits top of 3rd it's nasty :(

Rumor has it that recently in Mexico there was a test performed....the Z06 fared rather well...

STROKD 06-01-2013 09:06 PM

Zemog, would have loved to help, I love looking at cars...

C6 LS3 car is the buy right now... 80% of the performance vs a Z stock and a good 10-15 grand less. Friend sold his 08 last month for like 25-26k.

White_lightning 06-01-2013 09:46 PM

IMO if you want a NEW car with a warrenty for 30ish K.. GT and leave it alone.. if you are going to mod it and void the warrenty.. what does newer really give you?
my vette NEW was stickered @ 56ish K.. 3lt z51 fully loaded. it was bought for 46-48ish and i bought it 1 year old with 20k on it for 37. you could get a BASE 1lt for 42k new but i didnt what a base model so i paid a little more for a 1 year old loaded one.

that being said.. IMO its Far nicer and far "more car" than a new 5.0 or boss, and while the new GT500 would beat stock ls3, they are going for 54+k and besides being faster i STILL think the vette is a nicer car.

if you are going to mod it all of that really means not a damn thing.. HP for HP the c6 always seems to out perform the mustang.

Yea, it should...the weight difference is so much of a deficit to overcome for a 5.0 :(

Everything you need to know about the C6 Z06 and what it's capable of you can learn from "Ranger" on the Vette forum and/or his Youtube channel. That guy has forgotten more about driving than most people know.

But you know how to drive ;) And I am sure that iron block is making substantial power, is it not?

Considering when he gets his fuel and clutch isues worked out he will have no problem making over 1300rw, yeah I'd say 1100 is "okay" for being parts limited. God that must suck, huh? lol.

Luke 06-02-2013 02:29 PM

1300? I'd be happy with half that

Hey I'm parts limited by a good old ford shit block. I'm just to cheap and don't give a shit to change it. I learned my lesson years ago. You guys can have the horsepower race, I will stay slow and drive my car every chance I get. It won't be in the shop getting worked on. I was cruising around with the top down yesterday with the boys in the back seat having a ball, that's what it's about for me now. I guess after so many surgeries and illnesses I have realized that shit don't matter. Enjoy what you have and let the rest go, life is to damn short to have to impress anybody.
