Re: OG FOX Build Thread
Almost looks like a non wide body enduro kit. I like this spoiler better though.

Need Tach Help
I have hooked up a ford racing tachometer and need to figure out where to mount it. I already tried tapping into the dash board but that was futile. Is there some type of bracket i can use?
|
The dash is useless to mount to, just falls apart. In my '85, I mounted it to the column, sort of in front of the stock tach. It was pretty common back in the day, you just use a big ass hose clamp to hold it on.

Dale, if the stock tach is getting buggy, are any of the other gauges acting funny too? If so, the IVR is probably the culprit. I also had an issue where the tach quit working but everything else was fine, turned out to be the lead wire (seems like it was green) that feeds the tach from the ignition circuit under the hood. Replaced that wire and it worked fine after that.

Are you mounting it on the a pillar or the steering column? Florida 5.0 has a bad ass setup with replacing all our stock gauges with Autometers... if that is something you want to think about later on. http://www.florida50.com/user/image/p1030874b.jpg |

Started working on doing the header swap finally. Took out the stock exhaust yesterday.
So many vacuum hoses and bullshit for the smog pump. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps9a345bd7.jpg Headers Out http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps37736fb5.jpg Stock Shortys vs Long Tubes. The shortys feel heavier too!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psd54975fa.jpg |
Save those manifolds man, some one on FEP will likely buy them from you. The heat riser parts break off (bad rivets) so someone doing a resto will probably need them. Hell, I may need the passenger side myself!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps59a3fb4a.jpg also got both sides in, just trying to get the steering shaft reconnected. Everythings going good so far. should be starting her up by the weekend. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psdc0c5936.jpg |
That will work nicely, thanks man! She should be a bit more fun when you're done too!
|
Wow! look at all the room in there...
|
Get those headers on yet?

I remember when I originally did my headers and put some on that had come with my car. I had bad rubbing against the steering shaft. Finally broke down and just got some BBK shortys and it solved my problem. Sounds like you are going with manual steering to solve your problem though. Post up a video of the exhaust when you find some time.

on the flip side. another steering shaft would help with steering response im sure. ugh. decisions. |

Yes. With the longtubes you will have more low-end torque, pick up a few mph on the top, plus they will sound awesome. Shorties you won't pick up the low end torque with and maybe pick up 5-10hp. |

Danny is right, its not that uncommon on a Fox. If you dimple them, use the round side of a ball peen hammer. Place it where you want the dimple and use a regular hammer to hit the flat side of the ball peen hammer. Easier to control where you hit doing it that way.
|
well im just gonna order shortys and sell the longtubes and x pipe. i dont think ill need longtubes until i go with a coyote swap anyways.

Re: OG FOX Build Thread
I loved my long tubes mostly because they eliminated the drone on the inside.

Good choice! I've got the BBK shortys to BBK off road H to flowmaster 40 series and it sounds fantastic.
