If you took a 3V and bored it to a 302 and raised the compression, you could add a lot of hp.

Meh, that's only a 20ci gain, I wouldn't expect much. I'm impressed with the 3Vs in a couple of ways - 1) they sound GREAT, and 2) a stock block and modestly built lower end will last a long time in the 750-900hp range. That's pretty impressive.
