Default Brembo Brakes Question - HelpANoob

I have a 13 GT manual non - Brembo car. I see Brembo front take offs for sale here and there for way less than the Brembo kits.

Can I remove my stock calipers and rotors and bolt up take offs?? Seems silly to spend upwards of 1500 bucks when Shelby is selling take offs for 400 bucks.

What am I missing?

Nothing you need the calipers pads and rotors and they bolt right up. The heat shields are also a different size but won't hurt anything not to change them

Thanks, man. Seems worthwhile for 400. Look cool and stop better.

Make sure your wheels wheel clear the calipers.

You have the stock 19 inch wheels so should be good. Going to 20s when I have to get tires anyway.

If you do not have Brembo wheels, the brembo calipers will not clear. Yo uwill have to run a small spacer to get the non-Brembo wheels to clear.

Okay. So new 20 inch wheels, tires, and front Brembos are on the roster now.

I did this on my GT/CS.... I had already swapped wheels, so I picked up some takeoff rotors and calipers, and voila!

So you just put on the take off rotors calipers and lines? No problems?

What size wheels are you running?

As far as brake conversion, correct. The stock GT pads are different than the Brembo pads, and your stock 18" or 19" GT or GT/CS wheel will NOT clear the calipers. I have heard of people using wheel spaces to use certain stock wheels, but I do not recommend the use of any spacer, especially on the front of the car.

Look at the FordRacingParts.com website and look up M-2300-S for a full list of Ford Racing wheels that clear the 14" Brembo calipers. There are many aftermarket wheels that work, you just need to specify a 2011+ GT with Brembo brakes to locate fitments online if searching by vehicle.
