Tires are sized by 3 different numbers....

Width of the tire - Aspect ratio (sidewall) - and Diameter...

Those are what those numbers are you see on the side in that order.

What he means is you can increase the numbers on one and decrease the numbers on the others to make the entire setup the exact same size as it was.

Bigger diameter....15" to 17" you can decrease the aspect ratio so from 60 to 40 (didn't do the math just examples) it should be about the same size.

Now unless you want to buy all new tires with your new rims...you want to keep your rims the same size in diameter....or find rims that come with decent tires.
