Autocross June 2nd

I have been wanting to give Autocross a try and there is an event at Texas Raceway in Crandall on June 2nd being put on by Equipe Rapide. Cost is only $40. I happen to be off that sunday due to a school so I'm pretty sure I'm going to give this a try. Anyone else what to try it???

also any imput on what I may need to do to get my car ready? I know I will need to upgrade my brakes eventually but i have heard about problems with the brake fluid boiling. what should I replace the fluid with to make sure this doesnt happen.

If i get back from my friends wedding in time and I don't party too hard I'm always down for some cone carving!

Come on no one else?

Grandpa 05-14-2013 11:28 AM

I'm not making any plans that far out. I'd love to try it out though.

DirtyD 05-14-2013 11:47 AM

I might try to make this one.

What is there to calculate? How many seconds I lose by? Pretty sure they do that for me.

Austin@BA-Speed 05-14-2013 09:46 PM

only had my stock brake fluid boil once on me. It's def not a bad idea, but not a must especially if its your first time. Also depends on how fast or tight the course is....are there any other AutoX coming up?

Yea check dfwautocross.com

Austin@BA-Speed 05-14-2013 11:03 PM

cool, I may do the 25th with the NTAXS or drive down to College Station for the http://www.tamscc.org/forum/calendar...o=displaymonth
If you want to learn and practice I'd highly suggest the A&M AutoX, they run two courses, one timed and one for fun/practice...they have one a month in the summer

I have never done an autox event but a majority of our driving school and recertification every 2 years is basically the same thing. I work almost every weekend and I just happen to have the 2nd off, that's why I wanted to try it. I wish I could do more events

Toby 05-15-2013 12:22 AM

I might be down to go watch. The mustang prolly won't be ready for that.

Austin@BA-Speed 05-15-2013 12:39 AM

Plenty of bone stock cars go out and compete! Try it out !

saunupe1911 05-15-2013 10:09 AM

Been waiting on a local autocross or track event with a reasonaable price. Been itching to test out the StopTechs. The brakes can take a pounding.

Pepperinyoureye 05-15-2013 10:57 PM

Don't be worried about running factory fluid for the autocross. It took quite a bit of back to back runs in 90 degree Florida heat to only slightly cook the brakes. RBF600 won't hurt but I wouldn't worry about it on your first event.

No, not for autocross. Things happens fast and are over fast. Its only 1 lap and the courses are usually too tight to really build up enough heat.

saunupe1911 05-29-2013 04:26 PM

What time does it actually start? I'll probably have to pass on this.

03MachMe 06-01-2013 04:04 PM

Final bump! I think Jeff is going to come out and watch. Anyone else want to come and maybe do something after?

Adam 06-02-2013 12:52 PM

Have fun! I attended my first event a couple of weeks ago. I'm hooked!

03MachMe 06-02-2013 01:38 PM

Half way through. This is a blast. Will definitely be doing this again and my next mods will be with this in mind

Adam 06-03-2013 11:36 AM

Welcome to the sickness. What mods do you have now?

right now just Eibach Springs, LCAs and relocation brackets, and SVE drifts with crappy Nitto 555 275-35-19 tires. Next is some better tires, Koni adjustable shocks and struts, and some better brakes

Austin@BA-Speed 06-04-2013 08:24 PM

how competitive were you? what class were you running in?

Ran novice STU. Was the only novice STU but placed 5th in the novice class behind some miatas and an mr2. If I was just regular STU I would have been last by about 2 seconds. I need tires and shocks bad

DirtyD 06-05-2013 10:25 AM

Where's the videos?
