Painting Brembos....Opinions....

So here's an update on the Brembos. I know this won't be for everyone, but I didn't want the traditional black, red, yellow or blue, and I was looking for something that would go decent with my black car and silver wheels. I'm waiting on the black brembo decals which will be here during the week, then I have to put several coats of clear on them. This will allow me a little time to decide that I like them. I tried to place them next to the car to get an idea of how they'd look together. Let me know your opinions.

Nice!!

Doug1227 03-24-2013 05:02 PM

I think they look pretty good. I'm just trying to reassure myself that the colors look ok together. (black, silver and the gold). I went with a pretty mild gold to not look too flashy or cheap. I know red, black, blue, etc. would have matched, but I thought it was too flashy for the look I'm going for.

46Tbird 03-24-2013 05:02 PM

I think it will look great, Doug! But there's a reason the OEM Brembos come flat black - the calipers collect brake dust and are a huge pain in the ass to clean. If you can live with it, go for it! Maybe wax them every now and then so the dust is easy to wash off.

I think the gold is unusual and will look really good.

Doug1227 03-24-2013 05:10 PM

After the decals go on, I'm going to put quite a few coats of gloss clear in an attempt to make them durable and able to be cleaned hard without damaging the finish. My stockers are that silver color and they don't look too bad for wear. I guess the brembo pads are more of a carbon metallic "dirty" pad though, huh?

46Tbird 03-24-2013 05:30 PM

Yes they are much 'dirtier' than standard pads. My uncle went from a base GT to a Boss 302 LS and he bitches about the brake dust, lmao!

Grandpa 03-24-2013 06:00 PM

I think it looks great, Doug!

MidWest281 03-25-2013 06:40 PM

should look ok. need to see finished product pictures.

Doug1227 03-30-2013 08:08 PM

Here are a few more pics... I got the decals in and put them on this morning. Then I hit them with about 4-5 coats of clear. I'll get everything reassembled, and installed probably next weekend.

Here's decal and paint only, no clearcoat:

And here's after the clearcoat. The color looks a little different, but I think it's just the lighting:

I meant to tell you I've got some extra black Brembo decals if they'll work for you. (depending on what color you end up with). Figured I'd mention it to you before you order some more. I got (6), practiced with (1) and used (2), so I've got(3) left over.

I think that really helps the look. Good job.

Selcouth 06-04-2013 07:36 PM

I know I'm a little late to the party, but that accents well with the black.

Doug1227 06-05-2013 06:59 PM

Thanks. I know it's a little different, but that's what I was going for.

Rebelracer568 06-28-2013 08:40 PM

Brembos looks good. I wanna do something different with my Brembos. Try something other than black lol. Love the look

Nay 07-14-2013 09:36 AM

They look great, very different. Now time to see how hard they will be to keep them clean.

Doug1227 07-14-2013 11:37 AM

Changed the pads to ceramics instead of carbon metallic. That makes a HUGE difference in the amount of dust.
