66 Fairlane vs. 67 Galaxie

Sorry, not a race, but I'm thinking about getting rid of my Bronco since I have no use for it and picking up either a 66 Fairlane or a 67 Galaxie. Won't be buying to race, just as a nice backup/Saturday car. Which would you guys choose? And if anyone knows of anyone looking for a 4x4 toy send em my way!

That Galaxie is F'n sweet!

Luke 12-25-2012 02:02 PM

I could look at pictures of both body styles all day and still never decide. I've found that the Galaxies are a little cheaper though, not sure about the resto parts.

Galaxy hands down. Big enough car you can take friends with you, and they still have sexy styling. My aunt has a '65 she is working on now, needs some love, but still looks great

Luke 12-25-2012 04:15 PM

Yeah I like that it's so big, could fit plenty of people comfortably. I have a feeling that it'll just come down to what's available when I'm ready. I have a little work I want to do to the Bronco before I actually post it for sale anywhere. I need to finish the tune for it, I converted it to mass air when I rebuilt the motor.

Oh, and no luck with the fog light diagram, my buddy gave me his login info but I still couldn't access it. It keeps slipping my mind. He's got my wife's car right now, I'll get her to get a copy of the book diagram while she's there.

Galaxie

Either the Galaxy or or the Fairlane. Both can be really sexy if done right.

True but between the two pictures the galaxies is pure sex

merlinmol 12-26-2012 11:24 PM

Galaxie = sexy

x2, galaxy

Fairlane, takes a lot more work to get a Galaxie to look that good if your just looking for a cruiser.

Luke 12-27-2012 05:21 PM

If I find one I'm sure it'll be rough for a while. I'm in no hurry though, just an idea I'm kicking around.

46Tbird 12-31-2012 02:16 PM

Fairlane will be cheaper to build / find nice parts for, and will be worth more in the end. You better like the Galaxie because no one is looking for them.

If it were me, I'd add a Comet to your list!

Yeah I've been looking into parts availability too, and as for resale I know I would't make near my money back anyway so it wasn't a huge deal breaker. That second picture reminds me of when I used to want to build a Falcon gasser. These days I want to be able to fit a few people in it if need be and go for a cruise.

46Tbird 01-02-2013 05:56 PM

Out of the two, I'd still go Fairlane. Check out this one with a SOHC 427 under the hood.

That's a good looking car, that mustang behind it is badass.

Gangsta Gangsta!

Galaxie is my personal pick... there's a couple out there I've seen (I tend to scour Craigslist a lot).

Luke 01-03-2013 02:08 PM

Well if your scouring and come across something after July, feel free to post it up, that's probably when I'll start looking.
