AMR or CF5?

2 Attachment(s)
Just trying to get some opinions, trying to decide on wheels. The price on the AMR's is $680; the CF5's about $1,600. Do the CF5's look $920 better?

five.slow 01-09-2014 11:12 PM

i dont like the CF5 so id say no they are not $920 better.

03MachMe 01-10-2014 12:07 AM

Depends on what your going for. I like the cf5 more and if I had the cash it's the wheel I would have. But I don't that's why I have the drifts, a lot like the amr lol.

I feel the same way.

donutninja 01-10-2014 01:00 AM

I like the cf5's a lot better, personally. I think the amr's have too much going. Just my style preference, though.

zsommer79 01-10-2014 01:18 AM

Are those AMR gloss black? I like the AMR style better but the finish on the CF5 looks nicer.

blownaltered 01-10-2014 04:39 AM

Cf5

Shiftybusiness 01-10-2014 08:33 AM

Isn't Forgestar's quality better? Otherwise style wise they both look good on our cars.

Yes.

The mesh style wheels are all too common on the 5.0's. They are pretty much the go to wheel for a lot of people. Sure, they look good on the cars, but I think it's just as much of a crime to spend money on your car to look just like someone else's. But that's just me.

The reason I'm such a wheel snob, because in my opinion, the stance and wheel/tire selection make or break the look of a car. You can do everything else perfectly on a car with the motor/drivetrain/suspension selection building it but if it doesn't look and sit just right it ruins all of it. It's SO important which is why I think it's important to save money just a lil longer to get a wheel you really, really like rather than settling for a "just an okay" set of wheels. JMO's.

Never like the 5 spokes unless it has a lip to it.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I have been trying to decide for two months now on wheels. I can't tell you how many pics I've looked at online of different wheels. I change my mind about every 3 minutes. The appeal of the AMR's is that they are so inexpensive, but then I'm like if I am going to spend money, I might as well go all in and get soemthing I really want. I'm not a big fan of the gloss black finish on the AMR's.

What are y'alls thought on the CF5 vs the CF10?

donutninja 01-10-2014 12:02 PM

Depends on what size you get. I saw a mustang on 20" CF10's the other day and I didn't really like the look. I think both for the car but the CF5's are a cleaner fit. I almost went with CF5's but went Avant Garde instead.

A cheaper wheel will allow you better tire budget.

JDMLOL 01-10-2014 02:45 PM

And if you like to hit curbs like I do the cheaper wheels are easier on the wallet to replace.

JDBishopArts 01-10-2014 02:57 PM

Seriously?! CF5 all day long. Weight savings + WAY better quality.

Just to plain for me for $$$. To each their own.

Ingot 5.0 01-10-2014 03:26 PM

ha, see, I think the ingot silver car does not look good, but it's not lowered, so I can't make a fair evaluation. But I think the sterling grey car looks amazing, but my car isn't sterling grey. But believe me, I have seen all those pics 10 times over.

I'm just trying to decide if almost an extra $1,000 is worth it for one set of wheels over another.

If you're stuck on buying new then I'd say yes but you can find CF5s used a lot. Check SVTperformance.com. It's a rotary forged wheel. Worth it.

Why are you comparison shopping to vastly differently priced wheels? I've never seen anyone comparison shop two completely differently styled wheels in two completely different price brackets. If you're considering a forged wheel, why not look at other wheels in that price range like the other styles like the F14 or CF10?

Ingot 5.0 01-10-2014 04:53 PM

I'm comparison shopping bc I'm trying to decide if the price difference is worth it. I mentioned the CF10's and I'm not really interested in the F14's.

CF10's or AMR - both look good, but if you're trying to look different, I'd probably go with the CF10's. I haven't seen as many of those on the road.

The CF5's are just too plain, regardless of the cost...

I'd go with the CF10s. They have a natural look about them but, at the same time, everyone knows they are not stock. They match perfectly. Material wise, the CF5s will be better than the AMRs but I wouldn't buy them based on the plainjaneness of the wheel.
