Time for an update I guess
Dropped the car off at HPP last weekend for the KB installation. Thought I was done with blowers, but after I sold the last kit, Manny had a deal I couldn't refuse. So, she'll be blown again, maybe ready by this weekend.
Spoke with Brad at the shop this morning and they did the baseline dyno run. She made 430 Hp and 420 ft lbs torque, so the Gearheads tune was definitely doing its job. Can't complain about those numbers at all. The parts list for this trip are the KB 2.8LC kit, we're going with a 170* thermostat, I've having them install a boost gauge (using the Roush vent pod), install my LCA's, and they're installing the TMZ panhard bar they they took off of Mannys car. They'll get the car back in a month or so for the new clutch (going dual disc), new axles and c-clip eliminators, and most likely a new shifter. I took delivery of the new DR's and wheels yesterday, so at the track she'll be wearing MT 325/50's on 15x10 Dark Stars. Still need to get the front's, but I'm waiting until I can locate some '10 caliper brackets to be able to clear 15" wheels on the front. Looks like I'll be in the market for a new set of wheels and tires for daily duty too, since Ryan now has my old Drifts. The stockers don't offer much in the way of traction with the KB on there. So that's where we are as of now, I'll post more when I get the car back. |
Love the pics, can't wait to see more after the KB :D
|
Sweet can't wait to see what that think will do with the kb

Very nice, you're gonna spin all day on street tires.
|
Here's the new back wheels and DR's. A full 28" tall (effective gearing will be 3.52 at this height) and a full 12.5" wide with a nice tall sidewall. Should be able to hook with these!

Any worry about axles or anything breaking with that much power and sticky tires? Still not used to what these 5.0s can handle

A little more progress!

Badass!!!

Looking good!

The KB is definetely badass. I just wish they would have done more to make it look better, it's so damn ugly! lol.

Which tech is doing most of the install work for you?

Nice setup, looking forward to hearing some times.

She should be going on the dyno today for the first round of tuning. Hope to have her back by the end of the week.
|
Looks like 625 is the final number. The 80 lb injectors and 20 amp BAP helped out but it still ran out of fuel a little bit on the top end. Stock short block longevity is the main concern now at this level. I'm already planning a built short lock for next year, then we can up the injectors, add the bigger BAP and wick it up. Should be a lot of fun, especially with that instant torque hit.
All we're waiting on now is hooking up the boost gauge and adjusting the panhard bar, so I should have her back this week. Can't wait! |

She's home, and is an absolute beast to drive. Rev limiter comes up fast, LOL!
Final numbers are 625 hp and 515 torque, at what looks to be just under 10 psi. The tune is very good, near stock driveability with an extra 200 hp thrown in the mix (baseline was 430 hp/ 420 torque with the old Gearheads tune). Still trying to upload the video, but here's a few pics - http://badtexasgt.com/hosted/kb_001.jpg http://badtexasgt.com/hosted/kb_002.jpg http://badtexasgt.com/hosted/kb_003.jpg Top view of the heat exchanger http://badtexasgt.com/hosted/kb_004.jpg You can get a feel for the size of the heat exchanger, the top is just at the bottom of the grille opening and the bottom is showing just at the top of the lower grille opening http://badtexasgt.com/hosted/kb_005.jpg http://badtexasgt.com/hosted/kb_dyno_hpp.jpg |
|
Oh hell yeah.
|
Nice numbers, you need to get that rusty pulley fixed.
|
Nice! Should be a blast!
