Need Tach Help

I have hooked up a ford racing tachometer and need to figure out where to mount it. I already tried tapping into the dash board but that was futile. Is there some type of bracket i can use?

The dash is useless to mount to, just falls apart. In my '85, I mounted it to the column, sort of in front of the stock tach. It was pretty common back in the day, you just use a big ass hose clamp to hold it on.

yep, had a friend with a 7500 rpm 85 GT (he still has it), with a 3.5 inch tach mounted on the column... it didnt look horrible. I just use the stock one, it works pretty damn good with the tach signal off my msd.

Dale, if the stock tach is getting buggy, are any of the other gauges acting funny too? If so, the IVR is probably the culprit. I also had an issue where the tach quit working but everything else was fine, turned out to be the lead wire (seems like it was green) that feeds the tach from the ignition circuit under the hood. Replaced that wire and it worked fine after that.

yes this lead wire is the one that needs to go directly to the output on the MSD to have a REAL accurate stock tach.

My dad has one in his Road Runner and it's cool only because his car didnt come with a tach from the factory.

Are you mounting it on the a pillar or the steering column?

Florida 5.0 has a bad ass setup with replacing all our stock gauges with Autometers... if that is something you want to think about later on.

"og fox" was available.

Next year you might consider going through the DMV. You can get personalized classic plates for $40/yr(6 letter/number combo). Car looks great and the wheels really set it off.

Started working on doing the header swap finally. Took out the stock exhaust yesterday.

So many vacuum hoses and bullshit for the smog pump.

Stock Shortys vs Long Tubes. The shortys feel heavier too!!!

Save those manifolds man, some one on FEP will likely buy them from you. The heat riser parts break off (bad rivets) so someone doing a resto will probably need them. Hell, I may need the passenger side myself!

will do, they are in great shape. I swear this car was sitting in someones garage for 10 years untouched, the bolts came out of the heads very easy. I also have the exhaust tip as well.
