No one's arguing with your comment other than to say that rods that handle 700rwhp aren't really "weak"....perhaps weaker than a billet rod or even an aftermarket hbeam or something... but in the big scheme of things, WEAK is a relative term, right? The blocks aren't strong either....they push into the water jacket at ONLY 1000rwhp.

The rods are weak and you have crap pistons, the blocks are strong but that's it. It's not a built motor so lets stop acting like they are.

You're such a hater. Have NO clue what you are talking about.

There are TONS of Coyotes running around with thousands of miles on them making between 600 and 700rw on the stock rods and pistons safely. Try making that with YOUR shortblock. Ain't going happen because yours is on borrowed time at 475rw and above and limited to 5500rpms. Harmonics murder the fox motors.

What you clearly are unaware of is the tuners out there doing battle with eachother for business. There are TWO tuners who had an inside person at Ford that was sharing data with them that were able to get tunes out there that ran great. Then there was some of the other tuners who were trying to copy what they were doing without all of the data and blowing #8s and NOT because they are weak, but something in the tune. Then a "fix" was put out and the #8 thing has nearly gone completely away except for those guys at Bama who can't get it right and continue to blow up shit.

In this hobby, shit is going to break. It's just going to happen when you are attempting to make engines designed to perform beyond how the factory meant them too. But just hating on them because you are reading the same regurgitated BS from other people who clearly don't know what they are talking about is lame. The new tech available to us is awesome not taking advantage of it is just ignorance.

You know I loved my foxes (I had over a dozen them for crying outloud), but now there is better stuff out there that makes more power easier, more reliably and efficiently.

The connecting rods are pretty good man. They are a SHIT load better than the ones that came in the 3V's...the piston are def the weak point. For sure, it's def not a built motor, but it's damn good for a stock motor in a $30k car.

Sweet!! Can't wait to see it when you are done

While Steve is a little off in that novel of a post, I look forward to seeing what kind of numbers/times this thing will make. Oh, and lethal is having a driveshaft sale, might be a good time to invest in one.

Doug1227 04-03-2013 07:13 PM

I had the seller throw in his Aeroforce for a couple of bucks more...woot! I'll have it in my hands tomorrow. I had a friend pick it up for me on his way back to Dallas from Austin. Now I can stare at it until I find time to install! LOL!

I bet you'll make some time for that kinda fun!

Doug1227 04-04-2013 07:22 PM

I probably will. I've got to coordinate a weekend I can thrash on it fairly uninterrupted (read:KIDS!) and maybe stretch a weekend with a Friday/Monday or something so I can not be too stressed AND get it tuned before going back to work.

Doug1227 04-11-2013 10:53 AM

I've been picking up a few extra items in preparation of the install. I sold the ID1000's and picked up some FRPP 80's and a 40A BAP per Manny's recommendations. I bought an Aeroforce gauage and ordered a Roush vent bezel and 3.5bar MAP sensor so I can monitor A/F and Boost with one gauge. Gonna order a couple of extra pulleys from KB so I can play with boost on the dyno. I have a dyno appointment on 5/6/13 to get it tuned. I plan on installing it the weekend before that.

STROKD 04-11-2013 10:55 AM

Sounds bad ass man, can't wait to see it done!

pohnjarker 04-11-2013 11:20 AM

sweet, looking forward to seeing it at TS dyno day

i have the MAP sensor as well, let me know how the install goes.
