What do you mean a mustang dyno? The car is not tuned if thats what you mean...

Mustang is the brand of the Dyno, the other major dyno used is Dynojet. IIRC Dynojets read higher than the mustang brand given the same conditions, car, etc..

Wow not tuned? I would get it tuned ASAP one to improve the efficiency of the mods you have invested in and two to be safe! You'll prob be over 400whp with a tune.

it says dyno jet on the top of the page...However I dont see how those numbers are low...Reason being ford says 412 to the crank so minus 15% cause its a manual so typical results to the rear wheels would be somewhere between 350-360 on avg. JLT CAI say typical results 24-30rwhp and JBA LT's typical results are 17 rwhp based off of an article where they compared 7 of the top name brand Longtubes. Add all that up and I should be 391-407 with a tune...As soon as I get a tune im there or higher. Am i wrong here???

Soulowd 01-30-2014 10:37 PM

however i am a little concerned about the torque numbers...they do seem a bit lower than I expected...I just need to get it over to Truestreet in Mckinney and let them do their thing.

Last time I checked, JLT doesn't make a CAI that will work without a tune. Without a tune, your car shouldn't even start, much less make a pull.

Nevermind, I see in your sig that you have an SCT tune in there. Canned tunes are OK, but a custom tune should yield you a bit more power

Just for reference, my car, with the same mods as yours, made 435/400 after Gearheads worked their tuning magic.

Yeah I do have the basic sct tune but by tuned I meant actual dyno tune. I don't know I wasn't there when gearheads dyno'd the car so now I'm wondering what the hell

Also you can't sljust add what each part makes and total it up and say it should add 40whp. it doesn't work like that. Most cars with those mods make 415-430.

I understand that each car will make different results...but saying that you can't add up avg results to get a baseline is just not true. I am new to the coyote engine but I am by no means a newb to the mustang realm.

Ok....

The CAI will be worth, at the most, 7-8hp, the gains come mainly from the tune. The long tubes were worth 15 on mine, and I regretted deleting the cats almost instantly. Since my car was brand new when we started, I had a two year inspection sticker, but after that ran out, it was a major PITA to get the car inspected. Even after replacing the cats, the car was nowhere near passing, so in the end, I did what I usually do in these situations, threw cash at it. The factory headers and cats are amazingly efficient, as is the factory air box. Bone stock, with just a tune from VMP, I ran 12 flats at 116. Mid 11's are obtainable through nothing more than a tune and suspension work, and looking back, I wish I would never had the long tubes installed.

You had issues getting inspected? I guess I will find out in July if I can pass inspection on mine or not.

Gearheads dyno I think reads really low compared to other dynos in the area.

five.slow 01-31-2014 12:09 AM

they could have their correcton factor off? did they give you a corrected or STD dyno graph? shaun was screwing with the dyno to show me how people can make a car look like it makes WAY more power by just messing with a few settings. my car made 727 with the paxton with a STD dyno but when he flipped it to a corrected graph it was like 760 or something like that.

oh and for the record if my car would start and run with a STOCK tune with ID1000s and paxton im sure the JLT would start too. it didnt idle for shit and it was ONLY idle no driving but it did start.

Maybe this is why they are only charging 40$ for dyno lol oh well I'll find out when I take it true street for dyno tune

re-rx7 01-31-2014 12:18 AM

Reading low has nothing to do with the price lol. There are diff types of dynos all read different.
