Hey guys its my first post but I was wondering which heads to buy? I can either buy a set of aluminum gt40 heads or some gt40 iron heads with really good port work and valve job. The thing is I would rather have the aluminm heads for the weight savings but i drive in dallas traffic five days a week and I was told that if my car gets hot sitting in traffic that aluminum heads could warp. Im looking for suggestions, I know from a strictly performance standpoint the aluminums are better but what about reliability for a daily driver?

They would have to get REALLY hot to warp. I don't see that happening sitting in traffic. I had a set of AFR's and never had an issue

The thing that worries me the most is if my thermostat goes out while im driving. If something happens while im driving around and my car does overheat i really dont want to be out 1200 bucks lol. Is there some kind of special head gasket i can get that would help to save my heads if my car does overheat? I keep my mustang well maintained just dont want to get into a jam.

How did you like your AFR's ? If i go aluminum it will be between AFR, Trick Flow T/W or GT 40 X's, Lol i want to suprise a few coyotes 5.0's as i drive around dallas.

I loved my AFR 185's. Had them on my 347.

No special head gaskets. The only way you will warp a head is to over heat the car.

Ok cool. Last time i was at kennadale drag strip some guy kept talking up some kind of special head gasket. Probably just snake oil.
