View Full Version : Installed FR P Springs (rear)- much better...

While I could handle the front wheel gap on my '14 GT, the rear wheels looked absolutely ridiculous (IMHO).

So, I purchased and installed the rear only Ford Racing P springs. As seen in the pic, the gap is now pretty much even, and I'm quite happy. If anyone wants the unused front P Springs, shoot me a PM and you can pick em up (just taking up space in the garage).

Might be my imagination, but it seems the wheel hop is reduced somewhat (which doesn't make sense, but great).

"P" spring??? What is that? Yeah I could look it up but I'm lazy this morning

Looks really nice.

Shorter, stiffer springs absolutely WILL help to control wheel hop.

That is a good look. Had you checked into the 55D springs, however? I know they are a shorter version of the Brembo springs that were developed by a private seller.

Thanks!

Ford Racing has several lowering spring sets, and the "P" is one of them (don't know what "P" stands for). I looked through the various spring sets on American Muscle, and several reviewers of the P Springs mentioned putting just the rears on and leveling out the car (which was the goal).

I'm planning on adding the Roush front and side splitters, which will make the car appear lower- but didn't want to slam the thing to the ground (when I replace the P Zeros with Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires, the wheel well should be filled out even better).

If anyone wants those front springs, I'm never going to use them- and I'm located north of Lewisville in Hickory Creek. I'll wait a couple weeks to see if anyone wants them- then will probably put them out for the trash (where they always seem to disappear quite quickly).

Looks good, I might do the same thing on my 2012

Thanks- btw, I get a lot of compliments on the stripe install you did on my '14. Lots of questions about whether they are factory, the look stock, etc. When we bought my wife's F150, the sales guys commented adding stripes like that would probably move cars quicker through the dealership.

Better then I though it would look. Good Job.

Car looks great! I never thought about leveling the car. Do you happen to know what your stock wheel gap measured? Or how much drop the new springs gave you? Is everything else stock, ie. PHB, shocks, etc?
The first thing I saw were the stripes. I dig'em.

Thanks- everything else suspension-wise is stock, and the P Springs dropped the rear by 1.25" (although filling the tank brought the rear down almost another 0.25"). The rear is now 0.125" lower than the front with a full tank.

Thanks for the comments on the stripes- got em from Big Worm Graphics, and I get tons of comments on those (most asking if they came as part of a factory package).

This week, I'm adding the Roush chin spoiler and side splitters, as well as some LCAs (to hopefully eliminate the remaining wheel hop).

The only other things I've changed so far is the mufflers are GT500s, a Ford Racing tune, the stripes, heat extractors with flat black inserts, light blue covers on the engine, and Red Line hood struts.

The other things I have in mind are the Boss quad side-exhaust kit, a Ford Racing short-throw and bracket, and perhaps the Cervini Stalker Hood. Here's the stripes with the hood showing...

Oh, I also recently finally got sick enough of that stupid chrome circle on the back deck and plasti-dipped the fake gas cap (I didn't plasti-dip any of the shiny black deck, it just looks like the right side is due to the reflection of a cabinet in the garage).

Car looks good! I also did the faux gas cap with plasti dip. I did the entire thing, but I like the way you left the GT logo untouched. I might actually go peel it off my GT logo right now lol
