I'll be back in something later. Truck is just the better choice for me right now. With 2 dogs and kids in the near future just seems like the right thing to do.

Don't blame you. I'm hoping to find a 2002-2003 Supercrew this summer/fall in prep for family down the road.

I just picked up a 14 F150 FX4 ecoboost. Love it.

Op GLWS.

That's what I'm looking at. Drove a new Chevy today though and man it was nice. Made the decision a little tougher.

EcoBoost is faster, has a bigger backseat, has more torque and gets the same gas mileage regardless what Chevy will say about "Fords little V6 only getting 22."

We get 23 on the highway @ 70 and have gotten 24 @ 60. Not an average, just wide open highway travel.

Average over the last 15k miles on ours is sitting at 18 with plenty of in town driving.

This is my second F150. But my parents have had them when I was growing up. I wouldn't go Chevy lol. I've had Chevys and one dodge truck. Never again lol. The ecoboost is awesome.

If you don't haul or tow a trailer or anything often, I would honestly get the 5.0.

Why is that?

My 12 F150 was a 5.0 and was a great truck. I like my 14 Ecoboost a lot more.

Why? EcoBoost is faster and has amazing potential with tunes and stuff. Plus slightly higher mpg.

Just V8 sound?

DirtyD
02-15-2014, 11:52 PM
5.0 can get the same MPG. The TQ of the EB is great, but I wouldn't have one if I didn't tow very often with it. Not to mention simple mods to the 5.0 are cheaper than the EB.

And V8. Lol

But WHY....lol. As Captain Slow would say, it goes "like a stabbed rat."

I have my mustang to go fast in. The ecoboost is the family hauler so I won't be modding this one.

I guess that's me coming from a V6 truck, and the potential for something on the EB to go out/wrong unexpectedly.

I've seen all those videos. I'm not dissing the EB at all, just saying that I wouldn't pay the premium price they ask for it if I wasn't going to use it as intended.

I got a used one for $25k that I modded lightly that will run fender to fender with half the cars in this club, and I tow nothing lol....these EB trucks are no joke

It's only a $750 or $1350 option IIRC. It's not much different in price at all and mpg can make up for it.

Bought ours as a new demo (2012- bought "new" in 8/12). 6k miles, never been registered so we got factory rebates and stuff still- $27500 with 5/60 warranty and all the other new car stuff.

I love the Forgestars. If you find a buyer not wanting them, I'm running my stock 2011 GT Premium wheels now. They just rolled 23k with the stock PZero tires.

Not talking mileage. These trucks with a few bolt ons and a good tune can run high 12's at 5600+ pounds all day long. I wasn't trying to call anyone out or bet on a race was just trying to educate a little about how badass the EB motor in these trucks really is. I'm usually at coit every friday if you want to go for a ride in it...:)

Got a great trade in offer at the dealer yesterday. Unless some one makes me a better offer I'll be trading it in soon. Almost made a deal yesterday but have to make sure I like the price of the new truck.

So a truck that weighs 1 ton more with the same or less hp will run what the mustang will? Im in the wrong vehicle.

If it can hook lol

But EB are monsters. My buddy's edged me out from 60ish-120ish, with just intake, exhaust, and tune on his when mine was stock. From a dig though there's no traction

I'd say the 12 second ones though are like mid 400 rwhp(if not 500) and probably 700 rear wheel torque. Just a guess though
