I want to get a mid-pipe that would increase power significantly and also have a deep loud sound when I step on it. I was curious about the offroad pipes and if I can still pass inspection? If so, what brand and size should I go with? I have a completely stock car other than flowmaster axleback.

Offroad means that it technically is illegal to run on public roads. You will not pass Texas emissions without cats unless you have a hookup or you're able to keep the "not ready" status off on your emissions' and o2 sensor heater readiness monitors. This can sometimes be achieved through a tune or o2 sensor spacers. As far as looking for a deep sound the offroad h is the way to go.

The cats can't be restricting that much flow these days

What brands do you guys find most appealing as far as sound?

Lethal if you're going midpipe only.

Lethal Performance, MRT, and supposedly the new refreshed JBA design are good options for H pipes. X will increase the the rasp as well as the volume. H will increase the volume, but will keep a deep tone to the car, and get you closer to the classic muscle sound.

this is my car with the same mufflers you probably have with a lethal o/R H and the lund lope tune. dont mind the "flowmaster classic" the first few weeks these mufflers were out they were called classic then they just changed the name.

just search for boostaholic01 and most of those videos minus when it had a supercharger were all with the H pipe. the ones with the supercharger were with long tube headers and X pipe.

You poor people that have to deal with emissions testing lol

But as others have said, h will keep the deeper tone whereas x will give it a raspy "race car" sound. Seems like most people go to lethal for them

I know people who knew some people that killed some people for other people so inspections are not all that bad.

I actually took my car to get inspected before I left Texas with the o/r h and they actually believed me when I told them the resonators were the cats and that was where they went from the factory lol.

Svt performance has a sticky with the off road H pipe replacement and it nets you 20 hp on a dyno.. and yes cats are really restrictive. That engine revs better with those things gone..

Are you not close enough to Austin or San Antonio that you don't have to?

American Muscle has exhaust clips of just about every combination on the market. Also hit up youtube and make it out to a meet and check out local guys setups in person.

I like MBRP's stuff. However my setup is too loud for a daily driver, they offer street mufflers too so its not so loud.

I think going to the meets would be best. The only members exhaust i've heard was merlinmol's and that sounded A-ma-ZING

His car sounds great, but it's WAY too loud for a daily driver. At WOT his car is ridiculous!

I like my Lethal H. Nice deep tone, no drone at all with the gt500's. I think it's as close as you can get to the classic Mustang sound on these 5.0's.

He has cats. But the blower feeding the LT's feeding that MBRP race exhaust sounds purely pissed off.

Without the cat's It would be unbearable.

Asking about Steve's. I was behind Scott the last time I left the coit meet and that's just too loud for me nowadays. Maybe 23yr old Bert could deal with it, but not 33yr old Bert

No cats on mine. At WOT throttle it sounds great, but it's not obnoxiously loud. It's mellow, deep tone. Cruising in 5th gear its got a nice rumble too it. Put it in 6th and it's just barely louder than stock which is nice for those time you don't feel like listening to it or if you are on the Bluetooth call...oh wait. lol.

Yeah after I asked that I went and looked on Lethal's site and they don't even offer an after cat mid pipe. I do have to ask this, if it fits on a 2011 it should fit on my car, correct? Was trying to figure out why there site mentioned only 2011 for the o/r h and x but mentioned '11-'14 on the stainless versions. Strange

and fuck you!! It's bad enough that my phone doesn't even work right. The screen doesn't go black when I put it up to my ear so i'm constantly puling the key pad up and hitting buttons with my cheek or putting someone on hold. It's funny at times, mostly aggravating though. But i'm not getting rid of it until the damn thing breaks

As far as I know there is no major differences mechanically between the 11/12 and the 13/14's other than in 13 the deletion of the piston oil squirters.

Next time don't be a cheap ass. Buy a car with options of the 21st century and upgrade your flip phone.

I agree the H pipe with cat deletes and gt500 mufflers is the closest to classic Mustang sound you can get, but at times I wanna rattle my saber a bit more when driving you know... maybe ill develop a cat delete/electric cut out valve set up.. you know flip a switch and dump the exhaust right behind the front tires.. flip a switch again and go back thru the mufflers. .
