Battery died a few months after getting it. Don't have the receipt right now but couldn't have been more than 5k miles ago so I got a new battery from Ford. Now it's at work again clicking and won't turn over. Another dead battery wtf? Neither times was anything left on to draw power from the electrical system. Ideas?

Test your alternator.

Prolly a drain somewhere. Do you have aftermarket stereo or anything else electronic?

Test your alternator.

Will do. Perhaps this weekend if the problem persists.

Nothing electrical aftermarket.

Seems common with these cars. Motorcraft batteries were always really good. Wonder if they changed suppliers, or it is just this one size.

Guess a yellow top is going to be purchased sooner rather than later:lewx4:.

Mine is weak and I need to do something soon too. I want something light with good capacity, but cringe at the idea of a $1500 battery.

Parasitic drain...look for a light or anything small that is staying on. Highly doubt it's the alternator

You can easily check the alternator with a dmm just start the car and put the leads on the positive cable and a good ground you should be getting 14+ v at the battery

Good God man, what kind of battery are you buying for that much money?

Just left O'Reilly's. Battery, alternator and starter all checking out fine. Really not sure what I could be leaving on.

It could be something as small as a trunk light...make sure everything is shut good if it still does it you should have a parasitic draw test done on it and make sure that's not the problem

The lithiums are high.

For the draw test you need a dmm and amp clamp. Put the amp clamp on the battery positive cable with the arrow pointed towards the battery and let it sit for 30 min or so and come back the reading shouldn't be more than .2-.7 amps

I may have overlooked something earlier. I do eat in my car on lunch.

It's not the alternator... A light will be on telling you it's not charging. Mine factory battery didn't lady 1000 miles and it was done. Since the new battery I haven't had an issue.

that 1500 battery is so overkill.

If it was the alternator you wouldn't be driving it very far lol

True.

I'm still planning on a yellow top Optima. I guess I must have left something on during lunch yesterday while eating in the car. It's be fine since then.

Ya if you eat lunch in your car maybe be sure auto lighting is turned off. On a gloomy day maybe you had the auto lighting on and your head lights flipped on. I know my aftermarket HIDs will kill my battery quick if i leave them on w/o the motor running.

That may have happened. Thanks for the tip :).
