Hey guys,

I took the Boss for some spirited driving and during so, the check engine flashed for about 20-40 seconds and went away. All gauges were normal and nothing seemed out of sorts, but it was a concern. I returned home and ran the scanner, showing no codes. Just curious why it did that. My only engine mods are Parnelli Jones CAI and the AED tune. I was running the lopey idle tune. Any help would be great. Thanks

Can your scanner check for pending codes?

I'm not sure. It's an SCT Tuner. I have another scanner that I didn't use. I'll try it too.

My torque app for my phone will show historical and pending codes. Pending meaning that it could turn into a fault code that will trip a solid CEL within x number of drive cycles or if the problem goes away within x number of drive cycles it will clear out. I forget how long pending codes are stored. I thought I read 40.

After a little research, it looks like I made need a high rpm pulse ring. Can anyone shed some light on this and school me on the uses for this part? Also, how is the install?

Based on some google searching it looks like a crank position sensor and a pulse ring are the same thing. I'm assuming your tune raises the rev limiter on the Boss north of 7700 rpms. According to what I saw, it is to allow the pcm of high rpm engines to accurately monitor timing. Looks like it goes on or near the flywheel/flexplate.

I would agree with you. I doubt I can install it myself though. LOL.
