View Full Version : Took my car to Northstar tonight

Well I decided to take my GenIV to the local 1/8th mile tonight. I had planned on running 7.x @ 100mph or so. Never drag raced this car or even really launched it so I needed seat time badly. Get there, and first hit ever in the car is a 6.9x, so I started making passes and chipping away at it the best I could. I ended up leaving before getting it dialed in, made a total of 5 passes. I think the car has a mid 6.7x in it pretty easily with some more seat time.

Mods are.

-Dallas Performance Hand ported heads
-Dallas Performance hand ported intake
-Full Belanger exhaust with cats
-MGW shifter
-K&N
-Mopar ECU
-3:55 gears

I was running factory front wheels with 18" CCW rears, on 345/35/18 MT's

Here are all the slips. I would like to think in good air with more seat time the car with go a 6.7x and a 10.5x but who knows.

I do have full confidence the car will go in the 1.5x 60foot on this combo.

Yes I know nobody cares about 1/8th mile lol

I love your car. Always loved vipers and will hopefully own one. You must give me a ride

I think the eighth mile is awesome. Real drivers distance. The next 660 feet are easy compared to the first 660 feet.

+1 on that.

Good times - especially on drag radials.

Thanks guys. I'm going to change a few things this winter and hopefully run some lower 6's in the spring.

Ya'll haven't seen his Fox coupe either I take it (that is, if he still has it). I sold him some 325's for the back of it.

And I guess we better not mention the Supra.

I'm impressed. I didn't think a Viper would run that quick. Nice.

It shares daily duty with my 3500 Cummins. My CTS-V was and will be a daily again once this new combo is done. Old setup went 9.7@143

Me either honestly. Thanks

Haha. Might put the supra together soon. But I've been having more fun with slow cars recently

Are you ever going to get either of those Stangs running?

The Cobra is at Brooks right now. Holley Dominator EFI, new Precision billet 7675 turbo, and he's going over a bunch of things and fixing issues the car has. Probably going to tune it to around 600hp on 93. Then figure out what I want to do from there.

Honestly, since I'm taking a break from street racing. Its harder to get motivated on cars, everybody is afraid to run at the track.

I like running at the track, I just don't like how much time it takes having to drive all the way out there, spend the money to hope for short lines and decent track conditions.

I thought Brooks closed up shop?

He did, he's just working on the car for me in his Garage. I fucking hate wiring, hate SBF's, etc... If I work on the car I'm going to ruin it.

Whats the difference in waiting in line at the track vs standing in a parking lot?

-45 minute drive- you use to tell people that the reason for meets is to get out and drive the car. When people would complain about distance
-$20 entry fee
-$20 bucks in gas-falls under just driving a vehicle , it's not like you run race gas
-$200 towing fee cuz shit breaks at the track for me. lol- I break more on the highway. A properly setup car will be just as reliable as beating on it anywhere else.

-ricers and newbs in stock stangs breakin shit and driving all the way down the track draggin oil to kill racing for an hour at a time- these 2 sound like normal car meet activities

Fixed for ya

LOL. Yeah, well what can I say. I just don't have that time available anymore to dedicate every weekend to the track. Wish I did though cuz it is fun when it goes right. Two hours drive time, 4 or 5 hours at the track providing nothing goes wrong. I can't remember the last time I had 7 hours free to myself for something like that. It probably doesn't help much the car is so slow too. If it was faster I'd likely be more motivated to make it happen, but it's not so I don't. haha.

Hell, lately I can't even get myself to go to the Friday night meet half the time anymore. Ever since I changed my diet and working out seriously hard I'm so exhausted by 9pm I'm not motivated to go stand around in parking lot to talk about my slow turd.

Damn dude, sounds like you need a vacation! I'm leaving on the 21st for our annual track rental at MIR. Nothing like driving 1500 miles, running some 10's, (hopefully) not breaking anything, and then driving 1500 miles home. One of my favorite things to do.
