Doing some math. One inch is 25.4mm so a 8.5 inch wheel is 215.9mm wide. on my stock 18X8 wheel the width of the tire is 235mm so 9.25 inches, meaning the overlap of the tire from the wheel 1X1/8 inch overlap. A 265 (10.43inches) tire would overlap a 8.5 wheel by nearly two inches. Is that two wide a tire to fit on an 8.5inch wide wheel?

So do you have 8.5" wheels or 8" wheels?

265 is typically the maximum recommended max for a 8.5" wheel by most tire manufacturers.

The wheels I plan on getting will be 8.5 inches. Was just comparing what the overlap would be compared to stock if I went with 265s for the 8.5 wheels I want to get. It is very difficult to match a tire sidewall wise for the sizes I want without spending close to $400 per tire.

I look up the recommended tire widths for my 8.5 rims per tire because it varies. But 90% of manufacturers recommend 255 as the max. Bottom line, get at least 9 wide rims for the S197 platform so u can get up to 275 with no problem. I've been contemplating taking a chance on 265/35/20 for my 8.5 rims. It may be just fine. I'm currently on 245/40/20 and it's the perfect height to match 275 to 295. I simply will not ever put 255/35/20 on. Those side walls are just too small for a street car that weighs this much. Plus adding anything on the rear larger than 275 gives too much rake with 255/35 fronts

Are the new wheels 18x8.5? What's the wheel diameter so we can give you a better idea on what you are looking at.

19X8.5 fronts and 19X10s rear.

I would do a 255/40/19 on the front and 295/35/19 rear. Each will be 27" OD, slightly short than the stock tires you had.

I haven't actually purchased the 19X8.5s yet as they are still on back order through americanmuscle.com. They do have the 18X9s in stock. I was considering running those with a taller sidewall.

If the 8.5 are on back order, get 19x10 all around. Not only will it be the best balanced, but you can run a 285/305 staggered then.

18s don't look good on these cars unless they are on short tires. Wheel is too small for the wheel wells.

19s minimum to get the best looks.

Are you getting the OE 5 spoke 19" style replacement from AM?

Is the offset for the front the same as the back? Not sure if that will work.

No, getting the Bullitt wheels black with polished lips.

Are they the deep dish wheel? It may be doable, but I'm not sure. Probably have to actually ask AM if you can run those on the front. May be too deep.

Too bad they don't make a 9" version of those

Yup very deep, like a 3inch lip.
