This board drives me nuts. You guys delete the shit out of threads and posts, so what people are talking shit to each other. I've haven't seen any threads get out of hand but yet they still disappear. I can't imagine I'm the only one this bugs

IMO, It's their attempt to keep the site different (as in not like others) in a positive way. If one thread gets "too out of hand" and gets the boot, so be it. If there is one you can count on more to follow. If they don't set a standard now....it may never be the standard they seek. I appreciate this site and respect their decisions in moderating it as they see fit.

Sometimes people forget that it is a public forum and reflects upon the staff and general membership. As a website administrator for another forum I tell my staff to think, "What if your 12 year old daughter were to read this thread?".

Tell your 12 year old daughter to stay off a car website dominated by men. Your job as a parent to control what your kids read and watch. Not for the rest of us to have to be sensored or have someone sensor us.

So it doesn't get the reputation of pointless squabbling instead of useful content. It is fun to watch though. Some of the comebacks are hilarious.

I don't the bantering, but when the belittling starts to become more out of hand, it needs to be handle. Yeah, forums can have their callouts, bickering, name calling, etc, but there is a point where it needs to stop.

Come on for the most part this site doesn't have a lot of activity and is for the most part boring. Every once in a while you need something like this to bring life back to the board. How many times have you logged on and nobody has said a damn thing on this board all day, not one post. Its because of things like this. This isn't a tech website, there are only a few people on this board that know what the hell they are talking about anyways.

Then as a mod give a warning, pop in and say enough with this or that. Not delete entire threads, they erase the good stuff

A couple of the posts were a little overboard. It's not also only about the people on here but the sponsors who help keep the site running. I'm not a mod here but have been on some other sites and that is one thing people have to keep in mind.

Plus, while some people might know you, your jokes and personality (and I mean that generally and not specifically to one person, me included), some might not. This is a new site which doesn't have the foundation of solid, contributing member base. Or solid contributing sponsor base. We don't need to accidentally run any of them off if they see "drama".

Most of us are all friends here. Doesn't mean we can't have some fun but discretion is appreciated I'm sure. Let's try to keep it a fun environment. This site is different than the others in the area and let's try to keep it that way.

I don't have a 12 year old daughter and from your reply, I doubt that you do, either. Unless a site is locked to the general public, you have no idea who might be looking at it or from where they are accessing it.

SPONSORS!! ADVERTISERS!! That's the big point right there. I'll give just one guess what their advertising dollars are not attracted to.

No 12 year old girl here, just two boys and I will watch to make sure they stay off this crap till they are a certain age.

The advertisers also pay in hopes more people sign up here, but if there isn't any new posts or activity new people will not stick around. Have to have some kind of content. The bitching in that thread was childs play compaired to other boards with more advertisers so you can't say anything about that.
