34k on the car and tranny whine I had at 32k just got a lot louder. 3rd and 4th are just howling now. It's like I can hear the gears meshing in the case. Taking it in Wed most likely. I'm hoping for a new trans. I've never heard a trans so loud.
Take the tune and intake off! Lol

Shouldn't really matter with a manual if it's still factory with the stock clutch. If the dealer/tech wants to be shitty then maybe something will come up.

My dads the fleet mgr there so I'm not too worried. Iam curious though as to what causes this.

Usually a whine is caused by lack of fluid

Some of the trans in these cars have whine after as little as 4k miles.

My 2011 6MT 5.0 lasted about 20k miles when it started the whining.
The noise was barely audible at first which I dismissed as normal, but then I noticed it was suddenly much louder after getting off the highway, and then when I reached the parking garage at work, the echoes and closed area allowed me to clearly hear that is was a serious issue.
Took my car to Ford, they disassembled it and and found a bad input shaft bearing that spread metal throughout the transmission, necessitating a 100% new replacement. I had to wait about 5-days but got a free rental during that time, probably due to my extended warranty.
After that, I lost all confidence in the longevity of the MT82 and traded her in for a 2012 with 6R80 that had a converter and pump replacement at 4k and drove another 23k before trading in for a 2014 with 6R80.

Thank you for your post. It sound sexactly like mine. It literally howls over the radio now. I was worried about the bearing breaking down. Glad to know that they gave you a new tranny. Any trouble since?
