How much weight reduction "mods" can you do to the 5.0 without doing anything crazy i.e. removing seats or carpet? Just trying to shed some weight. Free horsepower in a way I suppose...

I don't know about you, but I could drop 20-30 lbs by just exercising.

:word:

Wheels/tires will drop a lot of weight if you went to a race wheel, not sure that's what you want though. I read a post a while back that had a break down of a shit ton of weight reduction stuff for these cars (old parts compared to new). I'll see if I can find it for you.

Ive read about other people on other forums doing that. If you daily the car they say it gets old quick because it sounds like you're in a tin can. With the rear seats, spare, carpet and insulation removed plus an aluminum ds I want to say one guy trimmed 80 or 100lbs on an 05-09. He said after a week or so he went back to putting it all back in.

Not worth it to me. I like comfort.

Most people drive around with a couple hundred pounds of shit in the trunk. A free and easy way to reduce weight is to just keep all that crap out of your car in the first place.

Not worth it if you ask me. You would have to remove a lot to make any real difference and you would probably lose a lot of comfort / function of the vehicle. Your best bet is to start with reducing rotating mass like lighter wheels / drive shaft.

There was some dude out at Ennis the night we all went and he had his poor car all torn apart in the parking lot. I think it may have been a sixer trying to set a record.

Yea I figured lighter wheels, aluminum driveshaft, a spare tire. Any other secrets? I weigh about 160 so I don't think me losing weight is an option lol.

The rear seat only weighs about 10 pounds total, and the trade off road noise in a daily is not worth it. IMHO, the best option is a blower, more power to overcome the weight!

Just noticed the keyword "without" anything extreme in your op. Yeah. Either way, removing items doesn't save a ton. Spare, light wheels, ds. What? Maybe 80lbs?

I have a Laguna Seca rear seat delete for sale. Saves a about a pound or two.

Couldn't find the thread I was talking about earlier. It had a list of all the stock stuff vs aftermarket stuff and the weight savings.
Basic rundown was:
Wheels/tires
No cats/aftermarket exhaust (mufflers way a ton)
Remove axle weights
Remove front sway bar
Tubular radiator support
Remove spare (or tire mobility kit ;))
Alum. driveshaft
Battery (don't remember exactly what it was but some aftermarket battery that is quite a bit lighter. Odyssey maybe?)
Suspension parts (not a big loss but it adds up)

So without going extreme I could probably shave off around 100lbs. Just trying to get a better horsepower to weight ratio. I haven't decided if I wanna do full bolt ons or go all the way with a TT Kit...

I need to weigh my car and see what I've shaved off.

I usually take the spare tire and jack out and have about 1/4 of a tank of gas. Nothing else.

Where would you even go to weigh your car?

A truck stop, or if you're at Crandall they have scales

For reference, my car with 15" DR's (275/60's on 15x10 RaceStars), the stock 19" fronts, full interior, and Pypes Pype Bomb muffler deletes weighed 3755 at MIR with a half tank of gas and me in it.
