Just wondering if anyone knows much about the factory radio set up in our cars. I'm thinking about doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCCOU_-xjXg with a 7" Galaxy tab like the one in the video. Are our radio controls simply on a removable faceplate with the actual radio head unit or brains being mounted behind the faceplate separately? I was thinking of purchasing a separate bezel to do this project on. It looks like the guy in the vid simply cut out his radio controls and stuck the tablet in, then just ran the aux out to the input of the factory radio and controls volume through the steering wheel.

he just ran the usb part to the console. as for the faceplate there are tons of screws and the controls behind it. ask beau it wasnt fun taking mine apart to paint lol

So theoretically the radio should still function via steering wheel if I cut the controls out and put the tab in?

Ive seen that one, the hardware specs are garbage. 600mhz and 64 mb ram? Ive seen reviews on some other double din android units from china, they aren't bad, but I really want something decently powerful with a capacitive touch screen.

A dude on SVT actually installed one and gave impressions. Not bad, not bad at all.
