Nahhh 5th n eveeyother one goes in smooth as butter on a warm buttermilk biscuit. Well 3rd by all means isn't hard to put in but just ehh you "feel" it. Btw what's mgw? A short throw?

Not really a short throw just the best shifter for our cars

He's probably lucky he's not having shifting to 4th problems like some other people on this forum.

Sometimes I don't push hard enough to push the shifter into 3rd. Resulting in a grinding noise and me revving the motor. Haha

third has always been a bitch for me. the barton bracket helped a bit, try a barton or mgw shifter with bracket.

mgw has a 30% less throw than stock
barton has a 40% less throw than stock

Under hard accel sometimes my third just wont go in. It hasn't done it in a while. I think most of it is user error (me) still trying to get used to the car. Third is the only gear really that isnt a sure shot on a six or five speed.

You aren't alone. I have very intermittent issues with 3rd when I'm going balls out

Why don't you get that checked out?

I stalled twice today in 1st -_____- idk what the hell was up with the clutch catching. Damn Chinese products lol

How much do those shifters go for?

I was making the statement that I was being lazy and didn't really try to put it in gear.

Don't post this on any "mainstream" mustang forums, you will get bitched out as "l3rn to drve n00b" by the mustang fanboys. Apparently after riding 2 motorcycles, a 6-speed Jeep, 6-speed VW GTI, and several straight trucks while moving with mile long gear throws i don't now how to drive standard.

I picked up a MGW shifter and as soon as i get time to install it i'll post back. I have the same issue as you with 3rd. Everyone that has gotten one says it solves the problem.

A new shifter is definitely the way to go, but ballin' doesn't come easy for some of us...

That's the one thing I like about this forum, no one constantly bitching, trolling or just being an ass in general, it's very laid back. I'm usually leery about joining forums because of the people that belong to them, they ruin the experience and the purpose of them.

From what angle?

From the side, can't see the shaft from the top.

Quick tip, at high RPMs, don't hit third by going "up and to the right", try "almost straight forward" and it will go in every time. I added a JHR shifter bracket and never miss third. It didn't really change the feel of the shifter but it does seem to make getting it into the gate more consistent than the stock piece.

That's what I do. I just throw the shifter forward and let the it return to dead center and it usually goes straight into 3rd. Sometimes I just push too fast.

Hold everything! I'm sure most of you know this already but I'm certian this is what caused to me stall

Well I noticed the on a downhill if you wana keep from rolling back at a stop light just hold the clutch in with 1st gear and tap the break n let go n that will keep at a stand still untill you let off the clutch or pop out of gear. I'm still finding stuff out don't flame mehh!
and as for the $500 for the shifter...maybe after useful mods haha

DirtyD

The MGW is a useful mod in itself.

As for what you describe, I see you have discovered hill assist. It applies the brakes for 3 seconds when an incline in detected, but unfortunately this is disable when the car is put into sport mode (TC and AdvancTrac is off)

Haha you will find out soon enough that it is a useful mod

Ha ha knew someone would say it!

Sorry but after all the tranny and 1-2 shift grinds and warped flywheels in the shelby world, and then all the issues with the MT82 and thread after thread of manual tranny issues and all the parts you have to buy to TRY and make it work right the auto was a no brainer for me. Great for DD and capable of far more than the manual with no mods.

If I get bored and want to shift put it in sport shift and shift it, but a tuned 13 A6 doesn't get boring...and it doesn't miss gears at the track if I go

Damn! I didn't know the trannys were that bad o.o
And its like your expecting 3rd gear to fail

My 2012 with 3:55's never had an issue with the tranny. Although it did have an issue with the motor around 3k miles. Had a replacement installed. The new '13 with 3:31's seems more solid/smoother shifting into gears. Don't know it its cause coming from 3:55's to 3:31's.... Good luck

Seems to be a lot of issues with the mt82 trannys. Even with the 13-14 models.

Wasnt trying to discourage the stick guys, they are hit or miss, some have issues and some dont. My GT500 didnt but all of my friends here in town did, so after seeing so much failure and the need to try and mod it to perform correctly just thought it made sense to go auto. I will admit I used to like to row the gears too, but not that much any more

I have no whine no griding (knock on wood) but yea I'm gona invest in the shifter just to help out the 3rd gear issue
Of course I only have 300 miles but still better safe than sorry. Hope it dosent void the warranty

An auto wasnt an option on mine unfortunately. Track pack = mt82 :(

I seriously considered an auto with how much power these mustangs can put out... but liked the track pack too much.
